Is there any differences? If so, can someone explain it to me.

normal grenades do not take up a pip to use
Molotoves do

Molotoves are basically an extra grenade except they work like... Molotoves. You can have both at the same time if you want

I would figure they make a good small 4 second barrier pool of fire as you can create some sort of space between the enemy.

Actually they do take up a pip. I just watched a video and the person tried to revive his teammate and accidentally used his last pip throwing a grenade

Molotovs have a larger blast radius, do more damage, and explode on impact but take a pip to use. Normal nades are rechargable outside of pips, and can be upgraded moreso than molotovs via specs (some specs cross over to all the nades, some are for normal frags only)

The thing about being a soldier is, you can throw a flashbang, then a nade, then a molotov, then drop a satchel charge. That's enough explosives to kill anyone that got hit by the nade+molotov and cover your retreat with a satchel.

it doesnt really matter that molotovs take a pip because they can scavenge and get it right back

Possible I'm wrong, but I haven't seena video where someone's been knocked down by a frag yet. Also, you should be able to recognize a situation where you shouldn't approach a soldier a certain way because of that fear of being knocked down, just means you would need find a way around or something, or not being bunched up and allowing that soldier to knock down 4+ of your team with one grenade. Also, they aren't spammable regardless of having full supply

This is the main advantage. You don't have to bother cooking it precisely enough.

Grenades are grenades.

Kinda disappointing molotovs. They should have named them stunning grenades or something like that. What I'd expect from a molotov would be... well... fire.

Disclaimer: Molotovs are not incendiary in Brink. They don't set the ground on fire, and they don't set players on fire. They just blow up and look cool.

What makes them desirable is more damage and exploding on impact. In order to get a grenade to explode exactly where you want it, you'll want to cook it, and that takes time. (Or you can buy Grenade Shooting and put a bullet through it midair, but that affects your focus on your enemy.) If you don't cook a grenade, it's more of a tool for affecting your enemy's behavior, because if they have any sense, they'll run from it before it explodes. The molotov is a more aggressive weapon, allowing you to round a corner, spot an enemy, and knock him down in a second. While he gets back up, you close with a knife or shotgun and finish him off.

Since Im at work and am waiting to get out to play Brink Id also like to know more about nades. I pretty much every video I have seen when the dude thows a regular nade it seems like the baddies usually run away or arent close enough to it to be effected by it. My question is (1) do nades knock people down only if they are really close to enemies and (2) If they dont knock people down do they at least have a decent AOE so that they hurt the guy you throw them at?
