Monk loose notes and build ideas

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 5:50 pm

My Character, for one, is a Semi-Pacifist. He kills the attacker if he has no choice. He kills if the attacker is attacking an innocent. He kills Daedra and Demons without question. If he can't calm an enemy for whatever reason, he resorts to killing them (such as during the starting quest Unbound when you don't have access to any illusion spells). He also remains neutral in the great war and the civil war, like the Graybeards. If someone tries to kill me, I kill them (Such as assassins, warriors, etc)

Races:
Breton (Good for "Monk", have Dragonskin)
Kahjit (Good for less spellcasting, more damage)

Skills:
Light Armor- Keep movement and dodging high so you don't take much damage, as it can be avoided
Heavy Armor- the Fists buff is very good
Restoration- Heals, which is a big part of being a monk, healing others and yourself.
Alteration- Very important to use highest Magic Armor at the start of the fight, and used to resist certain elements if you choose, although useless for Bretons (Referring to the resistance buffs)
Illusion- Use it a lot, and use it wisely. Because of your lack of straight on damage, you need to make enemies attack each other, run away, or not attack you so you can get that critical damage in.

Neccessary gear-
Gloves of the Pugilist- wiki it if you want location- neccessary for the disenchant/buff to unarmed damage

Followers-
This is one of the spots your healing comes in- use it to heal your tank followers-
Lydia is all I know of (Little knowledge about this) that could be of use as a tank/warrior.

Weapons-
Of course, unarmed, or claws.
Dragon Shouts.
Staves- Monks are said to use (Bo) Staves, but we can just cut it down to Staves.

Feel free to comment, criticize (constructively), and help me improve!

Steed stone eliminates heavy armor penalties. Pugilist gloves are light armor, heavy armor perk doesn't apply to them.

If you become adept enough in Enchanting, you can disenchant the Gloves of the Pugilist and apply them to heavy armor gauntlets.

have to slow down leveling or the game will get too hard, I heard hand to hand, even with the best stuff, becomes near impossible by the late 20's
