So I didn't even realize that they had put a limit on the number of games you could play with a merchant in the latest patch because of some dirty edits in another mod (Lolthanksixoarmorperks). But, having found that out, I realized how lame it was, so I changed it. However, caravan before the patch change was indeed broken, buy all their stuff then rob them blind with caravan is fun, but broken.

So now it's a bit more balanced, and a bit more unbalanced for those that are silver tongued devils.

Here's how it works:
All merchant number of caravan games respawn every 3 day game days, period. Well, unless you have unlimited games, heh.
The number of games per reset is based on your charisma, and is always at least 5. Bonuses start at 6 charisma. At 9 charisma and above, you have them in the palm of your hand, and can play as much as you'd like. Note that these are UN-modified values, they don't like it when you get all doped up and try to force them to gamble.
On top of this the amount that merchants will ante from their miserly stash is increased based upon your ability to convince them to part with their money. Bonuses start at 50 speech.

Known bugs:
On first re-load of save game where the merchant is in the same cell as the player, it seems to reset their caps. But a second load puts the caps back at normal. Not sure if this is a game bug, as the scripts do nothing to merchant inventories.
I have only been testing it against Lacey at Mojave Outpost, but all the scripts are exactly the same, more testing will reveal any bugs. But the code is sound.

Thanks to Imp of the Perverse for the actual code that I looked at to make sure my syntax wasn't broken, cipscis for his code checking site, people that wrote up the geck website, and y'all for reading and using.

Interesting. What is the limit added by the patch?

5 games then no more forever. Pretty lame.

I'm curious how this resolves with the similar mechanism already in the game using barter? (Or was that changed in the patch as well? I haven't checked...)

Unless it's a hidden calculation, which wouldn't surprise me, then vanilla has a standard ante based on the person you're playing with. For instance 30% for lacey, 50% for mayes etc.
