5 More Days!

I thought they said the deal was to release for XBOX 30 days before the other platforms. Why is there speculation as to it taking longer now??

Todd was asked at E3 when the other platforms would get Dawnguard. He said "I don't know." If it was a 30 day exclusive then he would have just said 30 days after we release it for the XBox 360.

Oh, ok. Thanks. Guess I missed that. Well, I guess we'll just see then.

PC and PS3 probably won't see this DLC until some time this Fall or Winter.

Honestly I doubt they would wait much past the initial 30 days given that gaming companies policy is no longer the untouchable god it used to be. I would expect PC and PS3 getting dawnguard late July or early August. Then again considering I play on the PC and already run roughly 30-40 mods I don't particularly care.

One thing PC has going for it is the half million or more people who want to spend money on it. :)

He said "I dont know" because Xbox's release wasnt even confirmed at the time (And still isnt).

How could he confirm PS3/PC's release when they werent even sure about the 26th for Xbox?

No need to say a date. He could have easily said "PC & PS3 will be able to download the DLC 30 days after we release DG for the XBox 360. We currently don't have a date set in stone for XBox, but when we do the other platforms can expect to be playing DG 30 days later."

The point of the contract is to get people to buy an XBox 360. 30 days isn't long enough, people like you and me will wait and just spend $20 dollars on it for PC. From what I understand it's only been made for XBox 360. After 30 days they can begin developing for PC & PS3 if they feel their is a market for it.

I wouldn't expect DG for the other platforms for quite awhile. If it was 30 days then Todd would have said "PC and PS3 version will be released 30 days after we release for XBox 360." However, he stated he didn't know when it would be released.

Sorry, but I find it funny how people pretend to have inside knowledge of what is happening over at Beth... why do people do this when they really have no idea. :ermm:

You draw this conclusion from one comment, that looked to have taken Todd off guard as he probably really doesn't know the exact date yet. Sure he could have said 30 days after Xbox, but there is nothing saying it will be exactly 30 days, and likely doesn't want to mislead this any further than what it has been. This is a case of someone seeing what they want to see.

I can't see it being delayed for the PC/PS3 much longer after the 30 days.

The DLC is developed on the PC for all platforms at once. Hell, they accidentally released the wrong Creation Kit last week, one that was incompatible and only worked with the DLC patched game; and even the one we have now, which is an older version from the "leaked" one, if you enable version control the title bar changes to "[DLC] Construction Set". Everything's made for all three paltforms at the same time.

The DLC exclusivity was announced well before the game's release. The idea is that if people have a PS3 and an Xbox, and know that the Xbox version will have early DLCs, they may be tempted to get the Xbox version instead. To suggest that the idea is people buy an Xbox just for a DLC is pretty absurd. The contract is 30 days. Todd probably didn't announce a date because he's not in charge of marketing. If he went "30 days" or "soon after", and it didn't come for an extra month, then people would play hell.

Like someone mentioned, they've made the DLC for all platforms. The Creation Kit that has been adapted for the DLC has been polished for us and is ready to be released (or rather, re-released). I have no idea on the release date, and I don't claim to know. But to delay it for an extra 4 months or longer would be absolute suicide. They've made a trailer, they've built up a hype. In a few months time that hype will be lost, everyone will know the plot and spoilers. It just makes no sense whatsoever to delay it much longer than a month or two after the Xbox release.

Don't get your hopes up. The DLC most likely won't be out until early December for the PC and even later for PS3.

Gods you're tedious.

They did it for Fallout 3 when Microsoft had a contract with them, why not with Skyrim?

They wont repeat this mistake again, they did it then, and very few people bought the DLC, they lost a good $50,000. At that time they were still a growing company, they didnt understand how badly people wanted the DLC on the PS3.

I believe that mistake has been fixed. I expect it within 30-60 days later. By the end of summer at least.

Meh. I'll look into it in the fall, maybe. After the final patch comes out and the USKP has matured a bit. I feel so sorry for those of you waiting on tenter-hooks to play TES:Twilight when there are so many other great games to be played.
Seriously, the vampires as they are now ARE LIKE TWILIGHT, if anything itll be like underworld. Which is eons better than twilight. As of now vampires just walz through the sun as if no problem.

I missed the creation kit fiasco. Guess a few people can work on modding Dawnguard while XBox 360 users are playing!

I once again have to say..

I hope nothing goes terribly wrong that Bethesda has to delay the release.

60 point reduction in health, stamina, and magicka during the day is no problem? Well, I guess if vampires aren't spontaneously combusting in the sunlight no ones happy  Gameplay matters more than the so-called "realism" of modern day vampire lore.
