Be More Objective, 2 Star Challenge

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:27 pm

I have tried time, and time again to complete this challenge to no avail. I have tried every Body Type (having the most success with Light) and a variety of different guns, but even with over seven minutes left on the clock, I can't complete the Operative section. I've tried ducking into the room with the Command Post, but the enemy Engineers just diffuse the Hackbox. The bots do next to nothing. I've noticed that the bots default to two Medics, and one Soldier. The Medics would rather gun than buff, or heal, and the Soldier is little more than Chinzor fodder. What I wouldn't give to have an Engineer deploying turrets instead of one of those useless Medics. Probably the most frustrating aspect of all of this is that usually, when I try to duck into the room with the Command Post, my character puts the PDA away of his own accord without being prompted, so I'm forced to return to the free-fire zone to yank the PDA out, only to have the same thing happen if I'm lucky enough to survive. I'm open to any suggestions about I should do here. I should mention that I lowered my character to Level 7 to soften the enemies up without losing the Light Body Type. I've been at this all day. Really frustrated.

Regarding this, I think Splash Damage needs to look into reworking Brink's balance concerning the Operative. The Operative can be a great asset, and I've used the class as such in multiplayer many times, but in a fight, the Operative is a weakling, and Operative Primary Objectives seem to be so ridiculous (even in Campaign) that my only option is to play an Engineer, set up some defenses, and hunker down in hope that an AI Operative does the job.

I also had this problem, but what I did to it was this: I created a new character, gave him the best weapons, first easily made the first challenge, after that the second. It's still not very easy but I made it this way. The reason why you need to do this is that because you don't have any cool abilities, Brink's matchmaking system will make he bots also don't have any cool abilities, so they won't have turrets, light's, heavy's, and all that stuff and you won't need any of them.

Okay, I understand what you are saying, but I have a question. If I lower my existing character to Level 1, will it have the same effect? This is the last set of Challenges I need to complete for the King of the World Achievement, so I'd rather complete them with this character if possible. On a separate note, what do you think the odds are that these Challenges will get patched/updated given the amount of people that seem to be having this issue?

360 Version: They need to do some serious work on Be More Objective. I completed the other challenges with relative ease and with this one its nearly impossible for me. I've looked at multiple guides online and have tried everything people have suggested. I admit that I am not the best FPS player however when so many people are complaining about this one challenge theres something wrong. Just hope Splash Damage does something about this until then i'm out.

Sorry to post it in your thread but didn't want to make a new thread when there was already one created.

Yep it svcks all the the other challenges I did I thought was too easy doing them all on 3 star but this one...

I can get to the hackbox but they just form a line of death that you can't get passed.

Plus this A.I all it does is camp behind something and pop up and take you out from half a mile away with 3 bullets.

I found this challenge easier than Parkour This 2. Are you playing as a light or something? I played these as medium and the routes that I chose made all the difference. Try and stay away from the enemy as much as possible. Don't go the way they're defending. Also duck while doing your objective and bail on it for a sec if you need to kill an attacker or heal up and then go back at it.

I've played as every Body Type. I can get to the Hack objective with over seven minutes to spare as a Light or Medium, but at that point, the enemy bots camp at the Hack location, and if I'm lucky enough to place the Hackbox, my character puts the PDA away when I try to duck into the room housing the Command Post. I don't know why he puts it away most of the time. To the best of my knowledge, it's not a button I'm pressing.

On a separate note, I find the response time of the Objectives adds to the problem. I get to the generator or the computer, and my character won't initiate the Objective until the button prompt is displayed, and that usually waits to display until I'm under fire. I thought maybe I wasn't positioned right at first, but I've tested this multiple times, and it's almost like a lag of sorts, or a delay. It just waits.

I read on another forum that if you select the Objective in the Objective Wheel, it helps your allies' AI to respond accordingly. Any truth to that?

As an operative hacking something, you don't have to be right beside it. You can move around some to get to a better defensive position.

I know that. That is what I've been trying to do though to be honest, I'm lucky to get close to the computer. What I am saying is that when I try to move after placing the Hackbox, to sweep around into the room with the Command Post, my Operative puts away his PDA without me pushing any button for him to do so. I'm not going out of range, so I don't know why he is doing that. That is part of what is frustrating me with this Challenge.

That, and the imbalance in the AI bots. Aside from the imbalances relating to damage and numbers (in my opinion, my bots should be equal to the enemy bots unless I'm playing on Hard [and I realize Difficulty doesn't effect Challenges]), my biggest issue is that the bots you're supplied with consist of two Medics, and a Soldier. The Soldier isn't great, but he isn't bad either. The problem is the Medics. At least in my opinion, Medic AI should prioritize buffing and reviving teammates over playing hero in a lost firefight. In my experience, my Medics would rather gun hopelessly at the overpowered enemy bots than attempt to heal or buff me. I don't expect that they will, but I do hope that Splash Damage does something to balance the bot AI a bit.

I'm really at a loss here. I failed miserably at this Challenge at Level 15, so I lowered my character to Level 7 to dumb down the bots, but between the realization that I could achieve near the same results with the Medium as I could with the Light and constantly dying at the whim of the enemy's turrets, I further lowered my character to Level 0 as per the recommendation of doing this challenge with a fresh character (but also requiring it with this character to complete King of the World). My current trials are with a Level 0, Medium Body Type. Primary Weapons is the Euston AR sporting Adjusted Iron Sights, Four-Vent Muzzle Brake, Front Grip, and Duct-Taped Magazine. Secondary Weapons is the CARB-9 SMG sporting the same. If I'm fast, this works flawlessly until I reach the Hack objective (which I reach with roughly seven and a half minutes to spare). At that point, brick wall. I don't know what I should do.

To be perfectly honest I just got lucky with this I stayed away from the enemy as much as possible and ran a LOT, the route you take does help a LOT as well. Just keep trying eventually youll get lucky sorry I know its not much help but you CAN get it trust me just keep at it.

And best of luck.

The issue with Be More Objective isn't just bot AI but team balance. Your team gets 4 (you, 1 heavy soldier, 2 medics) and the Enemy team has 6 (2 Heavy Soldiers, 2 engineers and 2 medics). Add to that your medics being more concerned with killing than healing anyone other than you and none of your team actually trying to defend an objective point instead of just picking a random spot in the room to try to 'draw fire' and it's a recipe for disaster.

For a long time I didn't understand why my team just got romped over and over again, then i got to the Operative part and took a minute to count the teams when i finally noticed it looked like there were more of them than us and the reason became obvious. It's a simple matter of numbers, there's no point where your team ever stands on an even footing with them. It's a battle of attrition and you have no way to win. I've seen some people have really good times on this challenge, but I've seen others (including myself) beat their heads against it for hours on end, especially once you get past lvl10 or so and their engineers start throwing down turrets and the medics start self healing.

They really need to get a patch out to either remove 1 or 2 members of the enemy team or add some to yours. Personally I'd choose to add 2 to the player's team and have one of them change class to make it so there's always 2 soldiers on the field for your team and always at least 1 engineer to hand out buffs and throw down a turret at the higher levels. I'd also like to see the AI play a bit smarter for your team, though given the fact that they're simply outnumbered I can't really judge if they're being dumb or simply being overwhelmed most of the time. I have seen my team really spread out though, 1 time in particular i saw my soldier on one end of the map while my 2 medics were all the way on the other side, between that and the extremely simplistic medic AI where they'll happily run through a group of 5 enemies to try to get you a revive it's a wonder most people can even get to the operative part of the challenge. Also note I've never seen my medics ever try to revive another member of my team, it's like they're saving all their supplies to get me up instead of getting the soldier back up to help kill things while the enemy medics are constantly reviving their team, that type of favoritism may seem like a good idea theory, have the medics save their revives for the player he's the one that's going to need them, but in practice it's a massive hurdle since generally you're going to just respawn instead of waiting for a revive and the medics end up never really using their supplies at all. I don't think I've ever seen my soldier throw a molotov either, though in that case it's probably not a bad thing since they're so outgunned that they need the ammo flowing.

EDIT: I tried to do a recount after posting this and I couldn't get a solid confirmation on my previous estimate of the enemy team size. I was counting 5 or 6, but the enemy team kept seeing through my disguise so I was unable to confirm an accurate count. Either way your own team is still outnumbered and the enemy AI seems much less restricted by not having to favor the player for buffs and revives and they're on defense so all they need to do is shoot, you have to stop shooting to achieve objectives which effectively takes you out of the fight for that time making the team imbalance that much more overwhelming.

Because the majority of the time this particular challenge isn't just challenging, it's a exercise in futility. The team imbalance makes this ridiculously difficult.

This may help those with the hacking objective. After COUNTLESS times attempting this challenge I just barely managed to beat it today. For the hacking part, I would take out some enemies then plant the box and try to get away from that open spot. Like some here I kept putting my box away for some reason. After reading a few posts on various forums about it I realized that you have to make sure the hack begins (percentages start going up) before you can move out of range. After doing this you can run around as much as you want.

Hope that helps the person who kept accidentally putting the PDA away.

Again, after realizing this I just barely managed to pull it off with my medium character. I still agree this challenge was perhaps a bit excessive in its difficulty, especially since all the others were completed with a few attempts (even the annoying escort one).

Ops aren't "weaklings" in a fight, they're the same as everyone else except for some abilities, and Ops have some of the best. The sticky bomb and caltrops are great tools (so is the EMP against those heavy turret defenses) but they need to be more prepared to fight during objective work because of how long they take.

As for the 2 star challenge, you need to set up your guy as an engineer with buffs (I say forget turrets and mines, you need the time to repair) and an Op with as many grenade options as you can get. I have done it with a Heavy (LMG/Shotgun) at earlier levels and a light at high levels, but both have drawbacks that the medium doesn't, so a medium carrying two SMGs might be a good choice, or take the shotgun as your primary if you're good with it.

Don't forget to buff as an engineer and once you finish the repair try for a quick hack and move around to the back. Keep your eyes on the radar for red dots and if they get close (or you hear the blow torch) do what you can. A lot of it ends up being luck, but if you can keep your A.I. guys in an advantage they tend to fight well enough to get you through.

The first time I tried the two star, it was hell. The second time, I aced it. It's really a matter of how good the enemy AI is being. They generally seem pretty good, since your team svcks, but my team actually helped a bit the second time.

The problem is = your teambots...they are as stupid as the backend of a donkey. When you start the mission they dont even bother to run with you, heck..they dont even bother to do that at all..they just run around in random directions not protecting you or eachother.. Then there are the red bots...camping like crazy. I'd say...screw the 2 star and just have fun plating online. The AI is the only downside to this game.

Hi all - 1st post here!

Dunno if this will help or if it does actually make a difference, but I read on the Xbox Brink forum that if you go back to Campaign and change difficulty to easy and then start your challenge, your challenge should be easier?
Not sure if this is true, but I done all 3 Be More Objective challenges fairly easily and most of the time I just left my useless team mates and sprinted off run and gunning on my own.

You don't need to complete all the challenges on 1 character, as long as you just make them all, you will get the trophy/achievement, not just if you make them all on 1 character, but I think what you did might also work. Well, I can tell you that the 3 star challenge is really easy, I made it in 2 attempts

I would like everyone to know that upon creating a new character, and outfitting him with the same guns as my previous setup, doing nothing but the Be More Objective Challenges, I have FINALLY completed the 2 Star Challenge. Today is a good day. For once, the Hack was surprisingly easy. The hardest part was delivering the Intel because the enemies swarmed the exit of the room, but switching to the Medic class for that segment is the best strategy I can figure.

I am curious if there is a difference between a Level 17 lowered to Level 0, and a fresh Level 0 because I noticed a difference in game. Maybe I was just lucky, but the enemy bots seemed a lot less responsive to my fresh Level 0 than to my Level 0 that was once Level 17. I think I'm going to continue with this character in the Challenges, and then complete the Campaign again. The Campaign is a cakewalk compared to this Challenge.

In closing, a lot of people have posted their strategies for completing this challenge. Here is mine. Create a new character outfitted with a Euston AR and a CARB-9 SMG. Equip both guns with these Attachments: Four-Vent Muzzle Brake, Front Grip, Adjusted Iron Sights, Duct-Taped Magazine. Complete Be More Objective, 1 Star Challenge. I assume that you're familiar with 2 Star Challenge, so my advice is to rush every Objective. Shoot only when you absolutely have to. If you're fast, the enemy should be a bit thinned out. If you die, that's okay. I died four, or five times. When you Hack, take the PDA to the Command Post. You're guarded on three sides by walls, and if you're lucky, your bots may do something to keep the Hack going. I stress if you're lucky. As soon as the Hack is complete, switch to Medic at the Command Post, and climb the crate to your right to get to the Intel (hopefully) unscathed. At this point, you need to rush the Objective as quickly as possible taking the route that you took to the Repair. Buff your health as soon as you're on the catwalk, and rush past any enemies. Drop the Intel, and cheer.

Oh, to the user who quoted me to defend the Operative, you misunderstood me. I like the Operative, but in my opinion, his lack of buffs like the Engineer's or Medic's puts a fresh Operative at a disadvantage in a fight. There's nothing wrong in that though because Operatives are meant to be stealthy bastards. However, the Challenge seems to demand a firefight if you don't rush it, making the forced Operative a frustration.

yer i have tried to do it on the 2 star challenge the first bits are no problem but soon as i get to the operative part the challenge is impossible to complete. the bots on my team do actually nothing while i get shot at and when i manage to get a hack box on with in 2 seconds im dead and then its removed plus the placement of it is so open anyone can shoot from that point not to sure how your expected to complete it
