More realistic marriage needed.

Goodness no! I'm married in real life...I play the game to escape from that, not to be thrown back in it!!!! :P

All I know about marriage in the game is that if I ask my wife Mjoll to go kill a bandit or hold some loot, the "yes dear" and "my love" comments stop. I didn't think the Lioness wanted to be stuck at home raising our non-existent kids and running some bizarre store so much.

Also, I don't know how to break it to her that her creepy friend just stares at her while she sleeps. I know it is very rude to kill your wife's best friend and getting rid of him would send us right back to Dr. Hrothgar the Reasonable's office for conseling. Still...something has to give and talking to the guy is getting nowhere.

It's obviously something they kind of just tacked on, the lack of depth to it is merely another symptom of their quantity over quality approach.

Although the marriage system was tried and found wanting by a lot of players, I am glad that it's in (rather than out) of the game. I'm sure Bethesda was glad the feature made the cut... but I'm almost positive they weren't satisfied with the final outcome.

Perhaps they'll expand on the next game, or even as content within a larger DLC. Once the CK gets released, our awesome modding community should be able to beat Bethesda to the punch and deliver a better offering.

it will be blackmarsh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it won't.

It won't be Summerset Isle or anywhere else set in modern Tamriel. Mark my words, the next stop in the ES series will be "TES VI: The Merethic Era".

You want realistic marriage go grab a girl in real life and mess up your life for next 50 years ;)
What a nonsense, there are more important things than marriages in Skyrim. After CK will be released im sure there will be plenty of mods about
these freakin marriages. Be patient , don't complain ;)

Don't forget the "Honey do" lists. After the honeymoon's over, there's a series of quests you have to complete in order to get "Lovers Comfort", lol.

Oh, I assure you those quests are there. Aela's forever sending me to clear a beast, typically made of "shterner shtuff," as she says, out of somebody's house or some random cave. Okay, I understand having a wolf, bear, sabrecat, ice wraith, troll or skeever in the house is a problem, but a cave somewhere? And why is it that the homeowner locks the door half the time?

As for the divorce option, etc, yeah, I can see it now. I'll step outside and a guard will run up and say, "In the name of the Jarl, halt! You are late on your child support payments."

You do realize this game is not based in current time.

100 years ago people were embarressed to divorce, very few would do it

now it seems like a friggin' trend :/

There is, if ever, just a loose relation between the virtual lore and the desert of the real. No guidance notes for the unexperienced singles of this planet are indended by the makers of the Amulet of Mara but a funny sideline, a harmless in game joke without much thoughtfulness. However, once things change to the more real I'd probably sell my love amulet at less than fair value or give it away for free to one of the more submissive NPCs.

it will be blackmarsh, it is the only way marrige can be effeciently fleshed out along-side pleasing sheogorath!! death threats on the back of argonian concubines will be much more common in a place that actually has argonian concubines, and when the wife finds out you have an argonian concubine she will write a death threat on it's back, pleasing sheogorath and adding to marrige

They're could be as many kinky plots as you'd like, but it wouldn't stop a game set in Black Marsh to be the most boring thing ever.

Eh, the marriage thing is just a nice little tidbit, kinda like an Easter Egg....except now you have a handy vendor!

The one thing I would love to see is the ability to change their freakin' clothes! It is bad enough that apparently every NPC rolls around in filth and wont wear any clothing unless it is ragged, stained, and prolly stanky too...but they have crud splattered all over their skin too. (Well, perhaps not as bad as all that, but still....)
I realize that more primitive cultures might not have regarded cleanliness as a critical part of day to day life, but come on! At least let me switch out the ragged stained pants for a ragged stained dress at least!

I think the OP was being a bit tongue in cheek.

I don't mind the marriage business being extremely simplified. It's just a fun gimmick. This is not the sims.

But I have to admit to often laughing at the deferential, almost reverential, speech lines of my Skyrim wife. These weren't written by someone who has ever been married, even someone happily married.

.. as well as the story wasn't written by folk that has ever met a dragon.
C'mon, fellas, this is just a game that tries to sell some virtual fun to an often less funny real world.

Good to see that at least some of you have not taken an arrow in your sense of humor.

For the slow-witted: I was not being serious in the original post. My apologies for injecting an attempt at levity in your regularly scheduled rants.
