More spells!

This game has a serious lack of spells! I'll cut to the chase and list all the spells and what schools I'd put them in (as well as their levels):

Alteration:
Slow (25) - Reduces moves & attack speed for one target
Haste (50) - Increases player attack speed and movement
Animal Transformation (25,50,75, and 100) - Transform into a wolf, sabre cat, bear, and hawk
I would move Telekinesis down to 25 and have a 50 and 100 power that would be a Telekinetic Punch, and an AOE Telekinetic attack.

Destruction:
Poison (0,25,50,75,100) - New damage line that would be resisted by resist magic & resist poison. Would be lower initial damage then other types, but would poison the target.

Magic (0,25,50,75,100) - Second new damage type. Would only be resisted by resist magic. But doesn't have any secondary effect.

I would also have DoTs (damage over time) spells for all damage types.

I've also been thinking about having a Holy damage spell (Restoration) and Unholy (Conjuration, as in summoning energy from oblivion) as well.

Anyone else have any ideas on new spells that could be added?

unlock. as a mage you are forced to know how to use lockpicks. Lockpicking is something mages don't have to do. they open the lock by magic be it a simple unlock spell or blowing the damn lock into oblivion.

and the things you've mentioned, and every other spell from oblivion and morrowind :)

they should add more elemental categories to destruction magic (wind, earth, water, etc.)

I've always wanted an elemental system but it wouldn't work with the lore I don't think. Earth, Fire, Water, Wind and Lightning. You then can combine two elements by dual casting to create a new one. So if I had Wind in one hand and Water in the other I could dual cast to create an Ice spell. I think this would be awesome as I am a fan of elemental destruction magic.

Another idea is a Shapeshifting tree. You can turn into anything from a bunny to a bear or something else. I thought of different ways to learn the transformations. Either by using a touch spell to absorb the the powers/soul or something once, or multiple times to make you a more powerful form, like 5 times, 10 times and then 20 times. Maybe learn the power by killing the enemy. I thought maybe there are 3 forms of every transformation. If you kill that enemy 5 times you get a weak version, kill it 10 times you get a moderate version, kill it 20 times you get an equal to the monster or more power. Maybe increase the amount of killing to make it more difficult or something. I haven't completely thought it out yet.

And while in the transformation mode you have the enemies Stamina/Health/Magicka or something. And when your health drops to 0 in shapeshifting mode you transform back to your original form in full health. Maybe loosing all Magicka or Stamina, or even both to create more difficulty.

Most of those spells are already avaliable via mods, so if you're on PC, just look for them.

That reminds me that I've just unlocked a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of65ykI1Eh8 (Alteration) spell, to *finally* being able to teleport short distances during combat. That plus Absorb Health on Range are gonna be real lifesavers... :)

The only one that makes sense in Elder Scrolls is Earth Magic, since that's what the Yokudans apparently used to sink Yokuda before the Ra'Gada came to Tamriel.

They're missing Resistances (Magic + Each Element), Poison, Reflect, (Absorb exists as a perk for Wards), Unlock and a lot of others that make sense.

I agree more spells would be great.

Some of that stuff is currently available through shouts, but I think it's kind of too bad that shouts take over that role. You can't train up your shouts, after all.
