More this than that.

When I first started looking at this game I saw Killzone for the xbox (epic, right?). As I looked at it longer, it turned to Team Fortress.

I'd like to hear your opinion on the above question. Please don't go on and on about how Brink will "Redefine" the genre...I'm simply asking a this or that question as the game stands right now.

The difference for me is the imagery and overall feel. Killzone feels more gritty and real focusing more on a knock down drag out fight. Where as Team fortress is a happy go lucky game with guns, comedy and character models that seem to skip more then run. For Gameplay mechanics, they're very similair but the feeling of the game is different. Killzone seems more serious and Team Fortress, not so much. Brink is slowly moving back to Killzone but is still in the TF category right now for me. Its essentially a game that doesn't seem to take its self too seriously I guess is the best way to put it.

EDIT: Again, just trying to get a general consensus on the "feeling" of the game.
EDIT EDIT: Again, I base it off visuals...you don't have too...this is all what you're feeling on every aspect of the game.

This is what I think.

I voted TF.

It's got a serious, cool story, but it's more about being fun than being gritty and brutal.

Definitely leaning more towards the TF2 side, I think, which is awesome for me because, despite not having played TF2 myself, I've wanted to for a long time, as it looks mega-fun.

Visually I would say it resembles a "Used TF2", the vibrant colours of TF2 with added grit and grime to give it that lived in feeling, but still manages to capture the fun not so serious side. However the back-story seems quite Dystopian with all the disaster elements, lack of medicine etc, it will be interesting to see how the story pans out.

If you were referring to the company Epic, then no - Killzone is developed by Guerilla Games (I think?) exclusively for PlayStation 3. As for my opinion... I've never played either of those two games, so it's somewhat difficult for me to choose. I ended up going with Team Fortress 2 though because it seems more similar based on what I've heard.

Nope..I meant epic as a describing word. I;ve been waitign for a Killzone rehash on the xbox for a long time. I love the game just can't stand the PS controller and basic set up of the system. So when I first saw Brink I thought i looked/felt a lot like Killzone.

I've never played Killzone and am a TF2 junkie. I didn't vote so my bias wouldnt affect the poll.

Oh, you were saying it would be epic if Killzone was for the 360. Your wording confused me. :P

I think when you describe it as not taking itself seriously its in a kind of degrading way, maybe thats just me.

I think the game is trying to invent its own artistic style in the way that it has been designed and leave a footprint in new territory for FPS's

other than the cartoonish graphics, the game actually seems to be taken itself very seriously; dark subject matter, radicalist factions, etc.

Played both, but with way more TF2 experience.

I think KZ is way more objective-centric than TF2. Even with stuff like Payload, it doesn't compare to the objectives of KZ's multiplayer.

That said, however, TF2 plays much faster than KZ, and Brink shares this speed.

Honestly I don't think you can embed on these forums. However, I definitely started to grin as soon as I read 'Mustang,' which turned into laughter by 'muscles.' Pictured something similar to that the entire time, even before I clicked the link. :D

If you are basing it purely off of visuals, I would definitely agree that it looks more like Team Fortress.

Although when I first saw gameplay of Brink, I was reminded of Borderlands...

Killzone is up its own rear when it comes to being a "serious shooter"....so I'm just comparing the two. One's more miltary, the others more Halo...ee? If you get the idea.

If anything it reminds me more of Mirrors Edge meets Borderlands

But I can see the TF2 comparison too

with visuals and feel, i would say Brink falls inbetween. its cartoony like TF, gritty like Killzone, just not as much on either account. as for gameplay, i think it will feel similar to Killzones warzone mode in MP, but not for sure since its not out yet. and i cant say for TF cause i havent played it myself.

Cartoony:
[_________-] TF
[-_________] Killzone
[_______-__] Brink

Grity:
[-_________] TF
[_________-] Killzone
[_______-__] Brink
