More trouble than its worth, or lovely jubbly

I have spent quite some hours now messing about in the CK, trying this and that and I am quite surprised and a fair bit dismayed by the sheer quantity of errors and the effort in work arounds to get basic things to work. I dont believe for one second that this CK is anything like the one used by Bethesda to make the game.

I am wondering firstly if this is my being so used to the Oblivion CS that I am going through a learning curve or whether others are starting to reach an impasse where just too many things dont work, half work, dont show up in game, disappear, throw up an error, tools dont do what they are supposed to do and so forth.

My philosophy is to mush on and keep trying, to endeavour to persevere as they say, but am I alone in looking back wistfully at the Oblivion CS and thinking, why did they re-invent the wheel and come up with a square one this time.

Cheerleaders, try not to get too excited about this post. I realise some people love the CK more than chocolate, flowers and watching a chick flick under the duvet, but surely even the most die hard Bethesda cheerleaders are occasionally thinking "are Bethesda having a larf?"

I seem to recall most of my questions re the Oblivion CS were about, "how do I do x,y,z" whereas currently I seem to be asking or thinking "how do I get this to work?"

As I said, I intend to mush on, but wonder are there others who roll their eyes regularly when running the CK?

I am pretty new to using CK, and I didn't use Oblivion CS before. I did play around a little with Fallout's Editor, though.
I am rather experienced in using the World Editor for Warcraft 3 and somewhat experienced with the Starcraft 2 Editor. I realize these editors are completely different from the ones used for Fallout and Skyrim, but I can't help to compare them when I use CK.
I also realize that my knowledge and experience with CK is very slim, but I still feel like everything in CK is constantly working against me. "Lego pieces" are missing, so if I want to make a new cave room I have copy two houndred boulders to cover up the missing part. The scripting language seems very weak. It can't seem to do anything, even fundamental things like variables are horrible to use.

I still enjoy using CK most of the time. I just wished it was a more powerful tool, and that my knowledge were greater.
