Post » Mon May 28, 2012 6:50 am

Okay guys.

I don't know how OLD or cOLD it is in here, but I've just been linked to the following website...

http://http://www.geek.com/articles/games/skyrim-contains-hidden-morrowind-and-cyrodiil-environments-20111122/?onswipe_redirect=no

What do you think? Possible DLC expansion into Morrowind?

If this is against the forum rules, please lock. I did have a look and thought it would be okay in the spoilers section.

that is a hell of a lot of landmass for 'nothing', undoubtably somethings gonna go there. I think beth said something along the lines of there won't be as many dlcs or as fequent but they will be big and awesome.

Yeah. Morrowind was really misnamed (We only experienced the Island Vvardenfell as well as Mournhold), so it's entirely possible we'll be visiting Mainland Morrowind in a DLC/Expansion.

I highly doubt any of this. Though I would like to go to Morrowind, help get the dunmer back on their feet as a nation.

would like to know why doing as the article suggests and merely TCL'ing my way past the border doesn't seem to work.

Did you get to the gate at Stendarr's beacon?

I think it's a great idea.

Yes, tried noclipping through it, tried noclipping around it, tried noclipping much farther north, tried player.moveto random tree beyond the gate, nothing works.
I do see the red mountain though, as close as i get to the gate.

I remember in Oblivion it was the same with for exampel Skyrim. You could "cheat" your way through the border in the north and take a stroll through the huge, empty landmass of Skyrim (trees where there and mountains and also some lakes and a big shore to the north). After a while you would fall off a cliff to your death though as not the whole land was there. :)

I guess this will make it a lot easier for modders to add other lands with the Creation Kit for PC.
Or ... Bethesda does indeed plan to release huge DLCs ... who knows.

Red Mountan's presence is probably purely so you can see it in the far distance from the Throat of the World in clear weather. Largest mountain in Tamriel having a view of the largest volcano, yes? Worth noting though that I saw another road gate west of Falkreath that I couldn't take. If my geography is correct the road heads down towards Bruma, passing Dragon Rock on the way.

Odd. I remember a large statue on a cliffside near Dragon Rock of a figure who looks a lot like Talos. Interesting.

What happens when you try and noclip through?

Try tcl and see if it lets you through the border...that turns off collision mode.

Isn't Morrowind just a burning wasteland of ash and scorched rock, filled with poisonus air without clean food or water right now?

This was done due to certain quests, at least one specific, teleports you very high above the skyrim landmass, and depending on the time of day, its possible to see well beyond the borders of Skyrim. This is LOD terrain, nothing more, and a whole lot less useful to designing new areas than one might think.

I concur with this, sadly.

I really hope to see some actual Nirn (instead of a Daedric realm, or more Skyrim) based DLC, and mainland Morrowind would be an option, but the fact that one can noclip to these areas is probably a red herring.

What IS odd is that the pass to Morrowind has an open gate, but Pale Pass has a closed gate. But also probably another red herring.

Well it is 160+ years after the Red Year so it could be better.

Why? It would make perfect sense, the end of the Civil war questline strongly suggested going against the Thalmor.

I'm sure they are crawling all over the Imperial City.

Take the fight to them? :D
either end to the civil war basically says the thalmor are the next objective (and rightly so), it wouldn't be a bad idea to sneak around cyrodil or anywhere else with a Thalmor presence and take them out one by one.
either way you look at it the first big expansion is probably going to have a lot to do with them.

Anyway, what I meant was I tried TCL'ing through the invisible wall and it didnt work. So I'd like to know how this was pulled off.
I do remember the aforementioned quest though, randomly seeing the world from very high up for a few seconds...

The article says that the gamer confirmed that there was Morrowind and Cyrodiil, what about the other provences?

This landmass would make Tamerial Rebuilts Modders very very happy lol

I dont really want to be taken to another land, unless DLC is all the previous games with the Skyrim Quality

As a tip to those who want to go look for themselves but weren't able with the console command "TCL" (toggle colllision) ... that actually didn't work for me either. But what did work is "TFC" (toggle free camera). With that you can pass the invisible border and go check out the landmass beyond Skyrim. You wouldn't be able to interact with anything on the "other side" but there is nothing to interact with anyways. :)

From what I could see there is indeed a huge amount of land available there. The coastlines don't match existing maps of Tamriel 100% which means that for example the coast of Hammerfell and High Rock don't match at all. And I also couldn't find Summerset Isles. But for modders who want to add new content in additional lands easy, that will probably do.

If you mod the ini files, so you can rotate the map, you can see the Whote Gold Tower and most of Cyrodil ;)
