Most attractive NPC in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:06 am

I'm not fooling myself. I'm old enough to know the difference between "cool", "brilliant" and "beautiful", even in a computer game. The first time i saw Hroki passing me in the soft candlelight of the Silver-Blood inn, I immidiately went "Wow! That's gorgeous!" - and not only because the candlelight effect is "cool" or "brilliant".

So you believe that humans are incabable of creating beautiful things? Surely nature in itself is beautiful, but I have also seen many things - created by human hands - that I think is beautiful. If you cannot see beauty in something created by humans, then your world must be less beautiful than the one I live in. And yes, I have experienced beauty - even beauty so great that my eyes swelled with tears.

All I'm saying is, video games are meant for pure enjoyment. Something that costs 60$ and it's goal is just to make pure enjoyment isn't beautiful.

Beauty is tied directly into rarity.
Whether something is manufactured or not isn't really important, or at least not directly...
But something mass-produced, or produced to last, generally is not considered beautiful... as beauty is dependent on rarity, in both space and time.

Something that can be shared or recreated generally loses beauty in the process. That is the problem with manufactured stuff...

Thank you ! [censored], "beauty" is a strong word, and using that word on an electronic device that holds no sacred purpose to anything SHOULDN't be considered beautiful

So far as I can tell, every female character in the entire game has the same bust-size. It is just a matter of what clothing they're wearing. They're certainly all the same height (except the children).

They're not all the same height, especially between the races, nor are they the same "build" (thin vs. stocky). As far as I can tell, not that I'm an expert nor broken out my virtual measuring tape, bust size takes into account race, height and build. My character, e.g., is shorter and thinner than even the average female bosmer, and has a -- somewhat -- realistic bust size to match. Her current companion, Eola, is a short breton female, about the same height as my character, but is stockier with a bust size that reflects her build.

Short of Orcs, Nord women tend to be the tallest and stockiest and, therefore, according to the games algorithms, have an equal tendency to have the biggest busts.

Edit: my spelling is worthless today.

Edit #2: The above diatribe is NOT meant to imply that I equate bust size with attractiveness (only that the npcs are more varied and unique than credited above).

Beauty is nature, and by nature itself, it must happen naturally.Anyone who thinks otherwise has not experienced beauty in their lifetime. Skyrim, yet good looking, is not beauty, I suggest you re read that last line to further understand what I'm saying.

I took an environmental philosophy course in college that dealt with that line of thought. Your opinion that natural forms are beautiful is certainly valid, but what about art? Art is manufactured. Architecture is manufactured, yet there are gorgeous buildings and monuments around the globe. Music is a construct as well. You don't find some pieces of music to be moving in any way? My point is arguing about something as subjective as beauty, whether it exists physically in nature or is burned into a plastic disk is a fruitless endeavor.

You're entitled to your opinion, but like SotiCoto said, there isn't much discussion to be had, so why beat it to death?

OP, I'd have to agree about Muiri. Hagravens remind of someone, and I don't know if I should be terrified yet..

... I'm not taking your side here.
Things CAN be beautiful in Skyrim.... but generally only when they weren't meant to be. Or as a result of one's own in-game actions. Things common to everyone's copy of the game, and to every playthrough of the game.... well, how can they be beautiful when we see them all over the damned place all the time?

Like I said, think hard before one uses a word as strong as beautiful on a mass produced video game. Originally what I was arguing was the comment about how the 'women' were 'beautiful' in skyrim. That my friend, is just pure disgust for me, as anything else can be beautiful as long as it appeals that way to YOU. But women? I would recommend keeping the compliments to the real ones instead of the pixelated ones.

i think hroki and aela the huntress are cute, with some enb settings i use they are much more beautiful. and i think i'm not mentally disturbed saying that since i like real girls\woman :|

I really hate pulling the 'subjective' card, but it applies here. Beauty is subjective. I think Skyrim has some beautiful sights, and beautiful music.

I think I made my point clear enough regarding beauty, and so I'll leave that discussion to someone else.
We're in a game forum, and so we discuss game-related stuff related to the structure set by the game.
If you can't appreciate a good-looking Skyrim character, too bad for you. I can, and I do, and so do many others. That doesn't mean we're incapable of recognizing real-life beauty.

Thank you to those who understood the point of this thread, and can appreciate it.

That's one fine-looking Dunmer lady! I have never seen anyone with her eye colour before.

Annekke Crag-Jumper and her daughter, Sylgia definitely are in my top 10 (Annekke is #1). Hroki is on the list somewhere as is Senna and Muiri. Orla is pretty attractive, but she is not a good marriagiable character. Olfina Gray-Mane is also pretty, as is Carlotta Valencia. I really lke Niranye of Windhelm and for some reason, the eccentric Dunmer girl on Sarethi farm (the younger sister)

The average in Skyrim is higher than the average in the real world... probably deliberately at that.
Most real-world women are ugly as butt-scrapings.

Of course when push comes to shove, I wouldn't go with either.
I'd rather Ceras Victoria from Hellsing.

What, like this ^ you mean?

How about that Kate Beckingsale in Underworld, now that's one hot vampire.
On topic: Are there any even remotely good-looking vampire chicks in Skyrim?

Now here's where everyone starts to jump me. Of course I have a sense of humor, that explains why I'm still on the BF3 forums laughing at everyone who makes fun of DICE...I'm serious, some people on their are damn clever and hilarious.

Yes it's subjective, you are right, and even I pointed that out in my last post when I said " as anything else can be beautiful as long as it appeals to YOU". But people disregard anything I say simply because I was arguing with someone else.

Anyway, i was simply saying this, lets compare the word 'Beauty' to 'love'. Ah, everyone knows people say "I love you" when they don't mean it, or they barely know what it is. People would say "I love that woman in this game". Well obviously that is not true, because love is such a strong word, as with Beauty.
