Most elaborate bug ever! involving models with triangular ho

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:19 am

Hey

I'm having some serious problems with skyrim (obviously). It used to run perfectly, until this happened: whenever i move, lightsources seem to disappear and reappear depending on where i stand..., i didn't find any info on the web so i reinstalled my game trough steam... Suddenly all of the following: It culminates in the form of holes in EVERY model or texture, even in the skyrim logo on the menu. Also, when i load my save it looks normal for about 2 seconds before everything gets triangular holes in them. Then the shadows go ape[censored], becoming two dimensional stripes on my screen. The mountains in the distance are distorted and there's a massive white stripe in the sky like you get on a tv with static. Also i can see very long rays of yellow, like you see when there aren't textures for a model, i think they are supposed to show 'godrays' or something? AND there are random blue boxes just like the rays but boxy...
I run windows Vista 32bit with a ATI Radeon HD 3600 series graphics card. Everything should be up to date.
I even reinstalled my latest driver (wich took forever because Catalyst Control Center svcks) in another attempt to fix these problems, but it didn't do anything...
Any help is welcome

Sincerely

Are you sure the newest driver is compatible with your card? Are you sure that you card is still functional?

I even downloaded the driver (again) from the site and reinstalled it completely. But that can't be it, because the problems were there before i reinstalled the driver AND persists after the reinstallation

Did you completely uninstall the driver first?

yep, fully and completely, and again it can't be the driver since it persisted before and after the reinstall unchanging... it even worked for a while before the reinstall of the driver...

What happens if you try a different driver set? 12.1 or 12.3 should both work all right with Skyrim...stay well away from 12.2, though. Make sure you completely uninstall the newer drivers first. If neither of those drivers work, it could be that the GPU is overheating or otherwise about to give up the ghost.

Another question is what settings are you trying to run it with?

it could be strange... but i suggest u to try to turn off ALL anti aliasing.. or FXAA.. disable it also in Catalyst Control Center of ATI cards
it sounds similiar of 1 my old bug...(it was solved with driver updates tought....)
(second idea is to install a very old driver for you VGA ... reading "windows Vista 32bit with a ATI Radeon HD 3600" make me think of an obsolete ecosystem > try with obsolete drivers....)

i'm trying to install an older version of the driver, but it's a pain in the ass... I already trie turning off all anti alliasing and everything... i tried running the game in almost every single configuration, to no avail
