Most gruesome companion death?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:38 pm

What has been the most horrible death your companion has suffered?
In my case, I had Jenassa as my companion, and it was her first adventure in Alftand. While fighting falmers, she fell from the top of the dwemer city, a height of about a skyscraqer. After going down, I found her crumpled body, that had curiously hit a falmer and killed him.

I was in Blackreach on top of a building fighting Falmers and my companion fell. Since I did not do any damage to her, she ran back to the top. I was wondering where Brelyna was for a while. The most gruesome would be some swinging blades in a hallway. The followers tend to stop if you are not moving and she disappeared into the wall.

Lydia...by my hands. Dual wielding bound swords, charge up a power attack when that dumb b**** runs in front of me.

Felt bad so reloaded but sent her back to whiterun shortly afterwards.

For me... Companions = waste of time.

Only Companion i ever had was Derkeethus and he can't die.
if he could, it would probably be him stepping on every single trap there is in the whole dungeon :|

Not me (I reload when they do), but my friend had this happen:

Saw a Necromancer Den, decided to send Lydia back because it looked too dangerous for her. Then he went through the dungeon, merrily hacking his way through hordes of mages, until he met a familiar face.

Necromancer's Lydia.

Lydia. I was in a dungeon, and mass group of the 3rd highest drougar was coming towards me. I wasn't a high enough level to hold them off. So I sprinted back a few steps pass a few swinging axes. Lydia managed to trap the Drougar right in the middle of the axes. I then noticed, there was a puddle of the flammable substance right below the axes.

I had to make a decision. Somehow manage to save hold off the superior skeletons with out the environment and somehow save lydia...all at once.

I had made my choice. I pulled the lever and lit the flames. Lydia sadly with the skeletons burned, exploded, and got chopped multiple times.

"The swinging blades" situation unfortunately cost the life of two or three beginner companions of my first character :ermm:

Bugs/glitches are gruesome. When a follower gets stuck on a stair, does nothing at all and dies.

Had Golldir as a compainion and was at the top of Blackreach. I let loose a full unrelenting force shout and the idiot stepped right in front of me. He flew out like a giant had used him for tee ball practice. Never saw him again.

On my Mage, Marcurio and I were on our way up the mountain to get to Ivarstead. I usually don't hire companions, but my low-level Breton was eager to learn more about his destiny as Dragonborn and thought it would be a good idea to buy some protection (out of character it was so I could kill the Frost Troll at the 7,000 steps). We didn't travel west from Riften (where I hired him) because we just retrieved an Eldergleam Sapling for Danica Pure-Spring in Whiterun. So we traveling up the mountains of southern Eastmarch. There was a gap between the waterfall that flows from Ivarstead. To get across, we had to manuever over a great fallen tree that connected the gap. On the other side, there was a Bandit Marauder, which is wierd because I was only level 8. Marcurio charged in before I could even whip out my Firebolts. I did the best that I could, trying not to hit my follower (I didn't have the impact perk yet either), but after a few swings the cursed Redguard bandit drove his blade into Marcurio's chest, and then perceded to twirl around and slice his throat. If Marcurio didn't die from heart failiure or drowning in his own blood, he died from falling and meeting the craggy rocks below. And if that wasn't enough, than the next two waterfall drops were. After quickly dispatching the Bandit Marauder, I raced down the mountain as fast as I could, to find my fallen companion lying on the shore of the river, his robes draqed with blood (yes I'm romanticizing).

And do you know what I said? I said "[censored]! Now who's gonna help me kill that Frost Troll!?"

I suppose when following behind me, Lydia failed to avoid the wall-spike trap trigger and got herself slammed several times by spikes into the wall until it killed her.

All she needed to do was follow me EXACTLY. But no, she had to go her own way. :(

If I ever used companions, I would not make them essential- or do reloads when they die.

That way I would have a story to tell, and not a reason for a lack of a story.

I guess mine would be the Boethia thing, but I just hired a guy from windhelm and took him straight there- not the most impressive stuff.

I cut Janessa's head off for fun out in the wild. I then reloaded a save where she was still alive.

Oh you reminded me, I remember sacrificing that annoying [censored] form Companions, "What have you caught today, I killed a bear!" Led her to the shrine and gave her a belly full of sacrificial dagger! So, so satisfying!

Lol yeah it kinda was. I hated Erandur from the moment I met him, what, with betraying his friends, being an elf and all, so I thought it was time he got a little taste of his own medicine, and boy was that medicine sour! The only priests I like are the Dibella ones, lol.

Edit: Oh, and the guy from Markarth didn't taste too mad either.
