Mouse acceleration in menus is crazy again

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:26 am

The mouse goes all over the place in the menus and vats - and acceleration is way too intense. The previous fix for this (edit fallout.ini, add a few foregroundmouse values) does not work. (Actually I noticed you're making that file read only, then removing any changes to it...)

Is there a fix for this yet? I can't play it like this.

Try going to my documents, my games, FalloutNV, and adding this to the 'controls' part of the FalloutPrefs.ini file. Worked for me.

fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0

Yeah, tried that. The game removes those after launch.

I figured this out

There's a file in Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\ called Fallout_default.ini

Whenever you launch the game, it copies the contents of that file onto FalloutPrefs.ini, so you'll need to edit Fallout_default.ini to get the changes to stick.

Doesn't seem to be making a difference for me, even after adding the lines to the default.ini. Any luck, Laitarne?

I'd tried that too, but for me it only persists the settings to fallout.ini, not falloutprefs.ini.

There is ANOTHER location where the prefs file can be found! For me it was under: Steam >> user data >> ######## >> ###### >> remote

I dont know if the numbers are going to be the same for you. Just sort by changed date.

Ah, nice - I had a suspicion this was a Steam thing. I'll try it when I get home. :-)

I had to add the line in 3 different locations & 4 ini files, to disable mouse acceleration... all the locations and ini's are in this thread.

Yes! It worked for me too, changing all 4. Now back to regularly scheduled program.

If changing the .ini files doesn't work, you might also want to try turning v-sync off.
