Any particular era of comedy? What sort of comedy are we seeking; Slapstick, black/dark, or screwball type?

Personally, I am a fan of the Laurel and hardy type of comedy, The three stooges to a lesser extent. One of my favorite men of comedy has to be Mel Brooks.

While strictly not just a comedy, if you want intelligent humour I highly recommend "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". A really well crafted movie.

If you can appreciate unintentionally comical horror movies, I'd recommend the Norwegian movie Dead Snow (D?d Sn?). After watching it I almost needed some fresh underwear.

Oh, I'll throw this one out there if you're not into slapstick/Brooks/Zucker Brotheres, etc...

You Kill Me http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796375/

Been Kingsly is an alcoholic hitman trying to dry up so he can get back into the business. Some very good dry humor that had me laughing out loud :)

Be warned, I have seen the american dub and it is awful! Just awful! What the movie in Norwegian with subs or not at all, the dub tried it's very best to murder the humour. Without the humour it's just a bad zombie movie.

Why would you see the American dubbed version?

By the way, I haven't seen Trolljegeren (in English, I guess, Troll Hunter?), but I have a feeling it is as funny as Dead Snow/D?d Sn?.

Well, I feel sorry to ruin the party, but it basically is a bad zombie movie that's funny because of it.

I haven't seen that yet either actually, but I picked it up recently so thanks for reminding me, gonna get right on that tonight. I hear it's brilliant, it's a documentary about Trolls and how the Norwegian people have to live with enormous monsters rampaging through the country. An issue that should have been adressed long ago as it's all obviously true.

Unless you like dark humour and i mean REALLY DARK then for gods sake DONT watch a scandinavian comedy ,cuz when movie is over you will either find it funny or depressing.

A couple of trailers to prove my point.

I don't know about that, most Norwegian comedies aren't really that dark, it's just that the most internationally known ones tend to be. And just to make this more perfect, I can't think of a single example right now...

I'll second that, cool movie, though i was born just a decade too late to fully appreciate it. Lucky I grew up with 80's pop culture instead of 90's pop culture, a pretty decent trade all things considered :P

In other news, I just saw Trolljegeren, or "The Troll Hunter" if you insist on not being Norwegian, and it was awesome. Finally the truth is out there, the world needs to know what we struggle with here in Norway.

I know you said 80s till now, but "The Jerk" with Steve Martin was made in 1979, and was a good one time watch. I thought it was close enough to 80s, but it might not be your taste.
