Muffle Boots

Just curios to know where people find boots that could be disenchanted.

Never found this in 3 playthroughs.

Just random loot or in a Smiths inventory for sale, although I am having similar problems locating Waterbreathing on my second playthrough.
Just random luck really.

have you considered purchasing the spell rather than disenchanting something to learn the effect?

Eeeh You do know that Skyrim has a different Enchanting mechanism than Oblivion.. In other words you can only learn the effect by destroying (disenchant) enchanted items... not by buying the accompanying spell..

I didn't find muffle effect until about level 60, I think. Waterbreathing, too.

I found waterbreathing very early with my first character I was under lvl 15. I didnt find it with any of the other until I was over level 30-40, so I felt spoiled with that effect.

you might have better luck finding them at very low levels (20-30). after a certain level they seem to become vastly more rare.

yes I want those gloves so bad, but I wont use mods to get them. I limit my mods to visuals and stuff that doesn't alter/make me a demigod

Always have a look through all the merchant inventories when you visit a town for useful enchantments.

If you want to make lots of money grab any you see which have the Banish Daedra effect. Weapons you enchant with that are worth a bundle.

Muffle and Water Breathing are very useful ones. I always check to see if the merchants have anything in their inventories with those enchants and grab the first one I see. So I bought a heavy, clunky Steel Plate Helmet of Waterbreathing, disenchanted it right away and made a handy little Ring of Waterbreathing to keep in my pocket.

Your post is both eloquent and enlightening. I've never before seen such a flawless argument on why someone is wrong or what they are wrong about. You have blown my mind. Bravo.

@OP I've never seen muffle boots outside the dark brotherhood and nightengale sets. Shame there isn't a fixed, disenchantable pair in the game.

I found both Waterbreathing and Muffle from blacksmiths. If you're up to doing a little exploiting, check their inventory and if they don't have it save your game. Kill them and reload. I did this to get both enchants.

once you know where all the smiths are, just go to each once and if they don't have it, wait a couple days and try em all again, you'll find em, i always find a pair to buy once i'm ready to use enchanting. but the smiths carry em.

You need to visit the merchants more often. On my first character I saw the first pair of muffled boots around level 35 or so and before that game finally broke, I was seeing Ebony boots of Muffling at more than one Mercant. I also had found quite a few pairs of muffled boots in chests all around Skyrim. They're out there, keep looking.
