Mulitiplayer suggesstion for Skyrim.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:46 pm

First off, Love the game. The sound track I think is awesome.

I wanted to ask will there ever be a multiplayer component to the game, or upcoming releases to the Elder Scrolls series?

My son and I was discussing this and we thought it would be cool if you could take your character and go to an Arena and fight one on one against other players- much like multiplayer matches.

And when you beat someone you can win gold and after so many matches you can level up.
It would even be cool if you could wager to win the opponents weapons and armor. But the player has total control if they wanted to enter an wager match or non-wager match.

It would also be cool if you can create a place that you can go to and trade with other players for gold coins. You can limit trades by skill set and what levels the player are.

What do you think?

You're new, so have a fishystick: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:Fishy_Stick

Second, this topic will lead to a forum war filled with napalm, TnT, PBXN-109 and other high grade explosives. Better take your suggestion over here, my friend: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1320106-official-tes-multiplayerco-op-thread/

To answer your question... no. I don't not want any online features in a game that's well known for it's single-player experience.

To reiterate what the others have said, and more importantly, explain why:

The Elder Scrolls series is a single player game for a reason. The developers at Bethesda always say that every time it is on their "Idea board", its always stricken down for good reason. It changes too much for the game to be enjoyable in the single player (time needed for it, implementation, is it "worth it")

for the love of- NO, we have very well established it would take away from the single player game, it would be wasted on the vast majority since msot want to explore their vast world without someone (other than themselves) ruining it by doing something stupid and todd has anounced he will never put it in (although he did not put it in those words "we cant say never but no it will never be in" is pretty much what he said)

let me say sorry, for myself and all the others who will hastily hell at you and scream no because we are all frustrated with this topic poping up so much, we are normaly very reasonable*

*this is a lie, do not believe it if you want to keep your sanity

welcome to the bloody pit, my friend

There's a mod being developed on Tes Nexus, and actually looks pretty cool. Some of you should check it out: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3592

Quoting Todd Howard only leads to more flames.

I know because I've tried. And I can't get the smell of burnt hair out of my clothes because of it.

Sorry, I didn't see if there was a previous topic on multiplayer. I forgot to do the search.

And I understand the case people make about a co-op play and the likes, but don't you think the arena component would work?

I like the idea, but as others have said, resources that go toward it would be better used to improve the single player game, which is what TES is first and foremost

If you want a PVP/Coop/TES type game, then go find Battlespire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Elder_Scrolls_Legend:_Battlespire

I've been playing MMOs for too long. In Skyrim, one of my characters found some gear useless to him, but useful to another character, and I grabbed it so I could mail it to my other character. Then I was like, "Do'h!"

See NWN/NWN2. Awesome potential but I don't think Beth could pull it off.

Bethesda shouldn't even think about considering to think about considering the possibility of thinking to consider putting multiplayer in Skyrim until they fix all the quest bugs.

No the arena part would be the worst, everyone would be doing the alchemy smithing enchanting loops, and like "I HAS UBER ITEMS"

LOL so true that nobody can even think of refuting this. If they can't squash the problematic bugs out, then multiplayer will definitely be an auto-no. Especially if multiple people experience the bug at the same time at the same place. Would make a good WTF moment

the second a multiplayer component is introduced into a carefully balanced, meticulous single-player experience, like a unstoppable virus, it immediately begins attacking and killing everything in sight.

in all seriousness, i don't know, but don't we already have more than enough mmorpgs'?
