BIG fan of the predecessor and I can't wait for Vegas to come out in a few hours, days? Anyway, I'm curious if it's possible to find out whether a retail version of Fallout New Vegas, from an non-English speaking country, can still be installed in English?
I bought Fallout 3 when it first came out in Austria, fortunately then, Bethesda did not opt to release the German Censored version of the game in this country, however, the game could only be installed in German which lacks immersion.

The biggest problem with voice over work is that they don't stress the importance of accents, such as Moriarty, who spoke with a an Irish accent (after playing the game in English).

SO, Can I install FNV in English if I buy an Austrian Retail version of FNV?

Heh i really wished this was available, I'm fkn tired of spanish, I want mods to be totally "compatible" with my system and I hate to see spanish and english words mixed everywhere only because my mod.

still, there's a chance to edit system files to change the whole strings of text, but voices... nobody will ever download a 2 GB (I presume) file of voices just to change the language.

They should make a language pack containing many different languages, including english.

Depends on the platform. Fairly sure the consoles are monolanguage but you can redownload the game in English on Steam. Not sure if that would work with the German censored version though.

I tried with portal, it only changed the audio to english, the language of text was still spanish...

but I'll try anyways, 10GB download is nothing for me (48 h or so)

Valve games are another thing. I can assure you that I changed the language of some of the games I had on Steam and the text was changed too.

If you are getting this game for a console, then the language is the one you bought.

If you are getting this on PC, you can use Steam to download and install a different language, even if you got a Retail Disk the first time around. However you can only have one installed language at a time.

Thanks Everyone, Thanks CCNA. I just read up that I have to register my CD-Key with Steam anyway. Forget about installing from the DVD then. I'll just Download the version I want via Steam. Good to know!!! Now I have the Collectors Edition and the game in the language I want to enjoy it in. Any thing else I can ask for? ... Oh yeah... Pre-Order DLC content... CRAP! LOL!

I don't know if you have to install the version you bought first before you can download and install the language you want. I would think that would not have to. However either way, the worst thing that happens is you have to spend a little extra time in the beginning to get the language you want.

Is the EU uncut Version of Fallout NV for PC 100% multilingual? I can downlaod all languages I want with steam, if I have the PEGI Version (UK,AT) ?

I'm not certain if the AT version is equal to the UK version. AT follows the PEGI rating system, whereas Germany has it's own USK (which follows the guidelines of the Youth Protection Law).

So, I take it that even if they might share the same PEGI system, the market dictates whether or not developers/publishers release games with multilingual install.

If you already have one version installed, you could try coping them out, reinstalling, quitting steam...

Then copying over the large files that shouldn't change. Steam -should- download the others, recognizing these files as complete.

No idea what files you'd want, though.
