Multiplayer coop a rarity

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:59 am

I caught this while visiting the Bethesda Softworks website when I bought Fallout 3. I saw this Hunted thing being advertised on the page. So I looked into it.

I wanted to say that I have found multi-player cooperative play games very rare. For a time, we the game players, were even told that nobody wanted it or it was "too hard" to do. My most enjoyable game playing experiences have been playing cooperatively with other real players. I am glad to see a game coming out that is made to be cooperative played. I look forward to it very much and would like to support this kind of thing to promote more of this kind of development.

I agree, while DM and it's relations are fun fun I much prefer co-op :)

I have been gaming since Doom 2 on my first PC i built back in 1993 and so far what i have seen very few games offer coop, or coop is more of an after-thought. Sure i can get in a team death match type of grind fest where grabbibg the rocket launcher (quake 3) equals instant win, but what is rare is a solid coop experience. I thought Saints Row 2 had a good idea in that anything you can do in the single player game was do-able in a coop setting. Left for Dead campaign (i do not play Versus under any circumstances) is an extreme example of coop done right, and is all the more interesting for it. What attracted me to this game was NOT the visuals, NOT the premise, NOT the company but the fact that the game seemed to be designed with coop in mind NOT as an after thought. We will see if it can be pulled off i am hopeful for thier success, and i as soon as i can decide which pre order bonus pack i want i will order it from the specific retailer.

We feel the game is a great opportunity for folks that want to play a game cooperatively.

And one particular aspect of the game I think players will find cool is the ability to swap players at certain points in each level. As Caddoc and E'Lara have differing attack styles, you'll have the opportunity to switch with your friend.
