Multiplayer in skyrim..CO-OP Or World wide

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:49 am

OK so im sure everyone here is going on about multiplayer and bethesda please dont lock this post im very interested to see peoples reactions and their opinions on this as im sure you will to as long as there are intelligent responses, now back to case in point, IF (((IIIFFFF))) skyrim were to have multiplayer, strong evidence shows that (1. no offense to bethesda, but they dont do multiplayer games 2. it would most likely NOT be worldwide, mmo, mmo rpg, ect) so its safe to say that if ANYTHING Bethesda would release a dlc like idk ( rampant alternate universe) similiar to the size of shivering isles BUT instead of it just being fetch quests it would be a community congregation area for those who desire to perform quests together, and its safe to say that if this was to become a reality the difficulty in a figure of speech should be like fighting 5 alduins on the highest difficulty, becuz if u get 2 guys in there with level 3 storm call( lightning) yea...alduin would be screwed in a matter of moments to seconds aswell as the option of trading i would advise against the tradeing system for the fact of to many oppurtunitys of duplication

so im hoping this topic wont get locked, buy im curious to hear intelligent answers on how or what type of core multiplayer system the players of skyrim on all platforms would like to see or atleast take part in pitching their ideas

No.

As selfish as this may sound, i want every bit of time and resource Bethesda has spent on adding to my single player experience.

MMO's svck, they lack variety and they lack depth and freedom. None of my characters actions really matter in a multiplayer game/MMO. I play single player games because I want to avoid the children and control the rules of the game myself, multiplayer games make this an impossible task.

I would imagine the MP would be done in a way like Borderlands is.

And you don't have to play multiplayer. The addition of it doesn't affect you in a negative way at all so you really have no right to complain against it

Wrong, is does affect us in a negative way, because to get MP shoehorned in to the game Beth would need to cut and drop a sheadload of content. Thats what you fail to realise.

Yes, it does effect me. Developers have to spend more time and resources to develop multiplayer that could be better spent on improving single player aspects of the game. In business terms, these are called "Opportunity Costs" or "Time value of money". Developers have to spend time to develop multiplayer games and the time they spend to do this could be spent doing other things.

No they don't. Not at all. They're a full fledged game development studio. They can spare a few programers to create a MP. Hell, most of the time this game was in development would have been spent on modeling. No different for the DLC. If getting MP into Skyrim involves some SP content being delayed (They don't have to cancel it you know) it's completely worth it.

In all honesty, I'm surprised a singleplayer only game has lasted this long on the Xbox and PS3

Spare a few programmers? Do you know how complicated it is to create a multiplayer open world game? It takes more than just a few programmers.

Neither co-op or "worldwide". To hell with other players.

Better, to Oblivion with other players. If I can be a immortal Daedra overlord and torture every other player in the world, then yes, I gladly would accept multiplayer.

Yes, just a few. I'm well aware of how complicated, but honestly, a simple multiplayer mode would be fun. It wouldn't even have to have questing in it, just load each player's singleplayer data (weapons, armor, etc that's on them) and let them roam Skyrim with no direction or quests. I don't expect it to be out in the next patch or anything like that. I can wait a couple months for a few programers to get it up and running, but a multiplayer like that wouldn't take a long time. It would probably take longer to set up the network in all honesty

If only! Then maybe it would be back to being built for PCs first, with proper optimization.

You must have more patience than me. I can't even count the steps to High Hrothgar without getting fed up with it. Here you are trying to keep tabs on the new blood players and their insane number of "I want multiplayer" threads.

I bow before you in respect for your dedication

Im sorry but your talking nonsense. Creating MP worlds takes months/years of development, especially for a game thats not designed from the ground up to the multiplayer. It takes a team of developers hundreds of man hours to do MP coding for ANY game. The amount of data required for MP in a game like TES would mean it would be gutted of SP content. Everyone lauds Borderlands for its Co-op but the fact is the game has BUGGER ALL content in the vanilla game compared to Skyrim. Modelling isnt an issue, network code, latency, routing protocols are the issue in MP games.

Seriously. You know nothing about making multiplayer games. It's a pain in the butt.

But that isn't my beef really. It's just a stupid idea for TES.
