Music that you find inspirational

Post » Mon Sep 05, 2011 9:44 pm

What's your favorite type of music? What songs, if any, do you find inspirational or beautiful?
Remember, beautiful doesn't have to be Bach, it can be Metallica if that's what you're in to.

My favorite type of music is Dubstep (signature), a style of electronic music usually characterized by it's heavy bass lines and 140-150 bpm rhythm.
The only dubstep track that I actually thought was beautiful is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7t8tRVvyLs&feature=player_detailpage by John Caza.

I almost cried.

Sorry if there was another thread about this, there were no search results for it.

I find most of Dragonforce's stuff to fill me with a "let's go heroically do something!" feeling.

Bob Marley always inspires me.

Jazz makes me wish I could play an instrument.

Good use of vocal samples in electronic music can be positively haunting.

Could you give an example?
I find dark and eerie tracks quite entertaining. Ital Tek specializes in dark, atmospheric tones, but I've never heard vocals in their music.

This made me chuckle a bit.
I might check out some of their stuff to see if it gives me the same feeling.

The album's "There Is Love In You". The first song ("Angel Echoes") would be a better example, but I can't find a working version of it on YouTube. Skip to 4:20 to get to some vocals.

Some hip-hop groups (like early De La Soul) do great things with vocal sampling. I'm not talking stuff like Kanye West, where he basically steals an entire hook.

Ehhhh... That sounded more jazzy to me.
When I read "positively haunting" did you mean scary? Maybe I misread the post.

That does sound pretty cool, but I don't think I could listen to that 24/7.

Also, I found another track that I find quite pretty sounding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7t8tRVvyLs&feature=player_detailpage by Kromabis. Some might describe it as hardcoe, but they only need to dabble in my signature to realize what an overstatement that is.
BTW make sure to listen to these tracks in the highest quality possible, they don't sound to good in 360p, especially if you don't have external speakers with good quality audio.

Not scary, more of a beautiful haunting.

I listened to the song again (actually, I'm listening to it right now). But I failed to hear the beauty in it.
We just have different tastes.

For truly inspirational music I listen to Beethoven and Mozart. Nothing can compare to the sheer force of genius of those two men.

I certainly feel strongly for many bands and songs. But one artist that never fails to amaze me, or hit me hard every time I listen to one of his song is Five for Fighting. John Ondrasik is fantastic, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR-qQcNT_fY
