Mythbuster Mishap

Personally I was just waiting for something like this to happen and i'm glad no one was hurt. Though that's probably not to say Discovery isn't crapping their pants at the thought of pending lawsuits. This only proves the power of cannons and how even proper preparations and precautions can't deal with everything.

Drinking game time. Whenever the reporters use a clearly non-neutral adjective, adverb, or verb to describe the cannonball, presumably in an effort to make the news more sensational than it really is, take a drink.

Cool story, dangerous experiment without proper precautions, but no one was hurt and it is hardly the "craziest thing" I've ever heard.

Wow was just about to post this too. But yes there are dangerous stunts done. They should have been more careful.

I'm thinking at the very least they are going to move all their test firing to much more remote locations in the future, like where they do all their rocket car myths.

I really hope this doesn't get blown up bigger than it is. One little mishap in all the years the show has been around . . .

Oh gracious.... Let's hope they're able to rebuild it and make the family happy enough that they don't take the show off the air...

That video really confused me, I spent most of the video trying to work out why Mythbusters is made in Dublin and why everyone there has an American accent.

Mythbusters probably has insurance for something like this, to pay for the damages.

One time mishap, can't be more careful then they already were (until they are, in the future like i'm guessing they'll have to be) so I hope they don't close the show down.

I wonder why did they do the experiment in the suburbs instead of the middle of nowhere.

Sadly people are greedy individuals and when it comes to near death experiences they will demand the moon and more. This already happened once when they did that match head viral video where the cut open an air cylinder to make a cannon. They used something like 10k match heads to launch the thing and it skipped on the ground landing in a field behind the bomb range.

Definitely agree they are going to move all cannon/explosive projectile experiments into that missile test range at that New Mexico University/Institute or that salt flats area in Nevada forget the name.

Really they need to rethink the security of their experiments. I'm a fan of the show myself but people seem to be forgetting that even if in this case there was only some property damage they could have killed someone with that canon which for some reason they decided to aim at but not from a populated area. The whole Mythbusters show is worth less than a life and I'd not just shrug it off and think "oh it was worth the risk considering the content" if someone had died from that shot.

I hope the show goes on but I also hope they will be more careful with their experiments doing them in more remote locations when it comes to myths with dangerous long range weapons.

well regardless of how the investigation turns out, their insurance is going to sky rocket.

doubt the show will be canceled because of this though, what other show on the discovery channel is even remotely as popular much less as intergrated into popculture.

probably won't be doing as many explosion myths for a little while though.

Yeah, hopefully the residents involved don't make a huge deal out of this, Mythbusters is one of the few shows I like on TV these days.

They should have been more careful, but that's in the past now so the only thing they can do now is implement more safety in the future. Instead of thinking of the "what ifs" they should be thankful that nobody was injured.

I lol'd. Hit a house, bounced from road to another house and then killing a minivan. Don't know why it made me laugh but I found it funny.

If I remember correctly they have insurance for stuff like this as they had to move M5 as they had neighbors in the building next to them and their insurance was freaking out with the stuff they were doing.

It seemed like the minivan guy was going to laugh when he described how he found a cannonball in his car. I know I would.
