Naming armor and weapons while enchanting?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:07 pm

Ok...so I've googled this but not found a quick easy solution to this...

But, on xbox 360 how does one name weapons and armor without having the time run out on fortify enchanting potions???

Does the Dragon shout "slow time" work? Or are the potions times based on a console clock?

Make several potions and use one for each enchantment. That's what I usually do.

After you select soul, effect and item the values does not change so you can use time to rename, however if you change anything else after the potion run out the values will be reset.

This is one of the reasons why I think it was a bad idea to make crafting real-time.

I'll check this out, but I think, based on last night's ventures, the percentage of effects does change if the potion time expires when you drop out of the naming menu.

Might have to do this...and get the controller keyboard for faster typing. Some names are long...

At least you can rename items in the enchanting screen. Most of the time when I try to rename something my character gets stuck at the enchanting table and can't move after I exit the enchanting screen. I've given up trying to rename items because it's not worth the hassle. I'm on the PC so there's probably a console command to fix this, but I've just been leaving items with their original names and then I'm very careful when I sell items to merchants.

Do not use mouse wheel to scroll. Scroll with Keyboard.

Yeah IMO it seems to pause the time once you go to the naming screen.

The dialouge box that opens to allow you to enter a name for your enchanted item, is a Xbox system window, the game thread is halted while this is open, so time does not pass in game while that window is open. The same thing as when the Xbox guide is open.

However that doesn't really matter, the power of the enchartment is set as soon as you have selected the item/effect/soulgem combo. So if you've done that before your spell has expired, then there is nothing to worry about.
