Navmesh element manipulation......what is going on here?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:55 am

I watched the tutorial on creating navmeshes, and I do have one made, but it's not clean. It may very well work, but I feel like it's sloppy, and I can't do anything about it. I'm being a little vague right now so let me explain. If I select a vertice/edge/tri, and try to move it, it NEVER goes where I want it. It either doesn't move, or goes on the completely wrong axis, or shoots away like the grid size is 256 (it's 8). Given the way things are moving, it's really not possible for me to create a clean navmesh. I understand the concept, it seems easy enough, but I have next to no control over vertice placement or any sort of manipulation. What is going on!!!???

I am a 3D artist by trade, and it just feels like somethings wrong here. I feel like (and the video shows) smoother vertice manipulation. I have the exact settings as the guy in the video (official bethesda tutorials), but it really looks horrible.

De-select snap to grip and rotate-snap, the 2 icons on the menu bar, before entering the navmesh editing mode.
