I only just now tried using it, thinking it was one-time use or something... I've had it for like...Ever... I didn't realize I could use it all the time and basically get a third companion to come along with me!

I never realized you could actually use that thing since the only options that show up when you hover over it are drop and hotkey I think.

Yeah, you get to choose between a supply drop(has some random ammo and maybe an armor in it), an NCR Ranger, or an NCR Trooper. Trooper is pathetic, go with the Ranger.
