Can someone tell me how to complete the Thieves Guild quest Scoundrel's Folly? I got to the part where you have to shadow Gulum -Ei and it says he is inside Solitude when the cursor is outside of Solitude and i looked up what to do and it said to go through a place called something grotto and I did. After that it updated the quest and says confront him but the cursor is still in the same spot? Can someone tell me where he is and how I find him?

Having same issue I believe. When I enter the East Empire warehouse there is a marker seemingly outside the map and no viual sign of Golum-ei. Found the grotto, marker leads through the end of the bandit cave back to the overworld. Marker then resets to the East Empire warehouse. Haven't seen Golum-ei since he entered the warehouse door on my first attempt. Have repeated this several times with no sign of the slippery lil Argonian. Help would be much appreciated!

EDIT: just knowing if this is a glitch would help, which I assume it is.

I never saw him I talked to him in the inn and then he walked outside then I left the inn and i never saw him after that.
I really need help with this quest otherwise I cannot continue the Thieves Guild.

I followed him from the inn out all the way down to the warehouse and he had a marker over his head the whole time. When I entered the warehouse the marker was past the boundary of the map. I'm on the xbox so I hope this isn't a glitch.

I have it for the PS3 and I think it is a glitch because I didn't even get to follow him he just disappeared once he left the inn.

Go through warehouse and try to find hidden entance behind chests and barrels. Gulum-Ei will be at the end of new location.

Very frustrating, I really want to complete this questline, my character is stealth oriented.

Does that secret entrance lead to the place that is like Brinewater Grotto or something like that? Because I went in there and never found him.

It's a serious bug then, try reloading save and following Gulum-Ei patiently.

Ah, so the marker doesn't lead straight to him, he's hiding? If so that is genius.

That is just it I don't have a save before that point because I did some stuff after that before I figured it was a bug.

Does he end up behind the secret wall with the walrus things?

After you talk to him inside the inn, I went behind him and crouched and he got up and i followed right on his butt as he left the door and I left too. He was standing there and he started to slowly walk all the way into the warehouse. Follow him. Once inside, keep following him and note that there are bad guys inside and he'll ignore you fighting them and keep walking. Keep following and killing the guys as you go. Eventually, he will go to small wooden stairs going down and then around some halls and into the next area that will cause it to change to confront him. Once in there, there are two guards standing looking at the water, kill them and then I just swam the water till i could get out and avoid 3 baddies by doing that. I got out and you have to kill another 5 guys or so and eventually you come up to him and an archer standing by a fire. There are 2 big treasure chests by them and then the levers open up the door to the area with the walrus like things.

I am in that area but he is not here. This is pissing me off!

I heard he is there at specific times, I have not yet tested when but I heard midnight is when he shows up, I am experiencing the same problem, and to those saying to just tail him, that was my original intention, but he completely vanished after the inn conversation, as in he was not outside the inn at all... I am on xbox 360 if it matters at all, and I'm 99% sure this is a bug, if not he's the slipperiest npc in the whole universe.

Definitely a bug, I watched a YouTube video of how the quest is supposed to play out. I'm goon to try clearing my xbox's cache when I get home and see I that helps.

I'll try it but I never saw him after he left the inn hr completely disappeared.

yeah, sounds like we're in the same boat, let me know if you can find him, I do hope that the time trick gets him to show up, then we could move on and be continuing with our beloved thieves

I tried waiting until midnight and he didn't show up so the game is just glitched and I can't continue the Thieves Guild quest line.

Guys on this thread I figured it out you have to get kicked out of the guild! I killed Dirge and all you have to do is pay 1000 gold, but Gulum-Ei shows up in Brinewater Grotto!

finally i find gulum-ei

go to east water warehouse and follow the long way from leftside to right side along the walls. kill all guards and jump into water. on the right side behind all the stuff and under the way is a little way to follow. you will see a door whats called with salt-water-.... go inside. you find gulum

ok i cant edit: the q says i tailed gulum so i thought i would find him...i only find the way to the lighthouse... -.-

IF you are playing on PC you can fix it. Otherwise it seems a coin-toss on quitting, loading a recent save, and hoping that he will behave. This time. Maybe.

Today i tested this quest again with my second char, a sneaking double dagger murderer. at the first time with my mage i went away to other quests after speaking to gulum-ei and i wasnt abel to found him in the saltwater cavern. today i followed him step by step and let him never come out of my eyes. at beginning of the saltwater cavern he ports away to the end, but he waites there. so, it works!

at the end for me i can say you must follow him and must do this quest if you started it then you will have no problems. (pc version 1.1.21.0)
