Need Dedicated Scripter for Skyrim Machinima Project

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:21 am

The more I try to work with the Papyrus scripting language in the Creation Kit, the more I come to realize that I'm just not cut out to write my own scripts for Skyrim; I don't have the patience required to learn an entire scripting language from scratch, it turns out. To remedy that, I'm looking for someone who is familiar and competent with the Papyrus scripting language already, to assist me in creating the pilot episode of a Skyrim machinima series using the Creation Kit. Most (if not all) of the scripting would involve animating and coordinating multiple NPC actors in both dialogue scenes and action scenes.

The series is currently still in development, and will not go into pre-production (scripting) for a little while yet. While the main characters have been laid out and the script for the pilot episode is now being written, the arc of the entire series is still being planned out. The series itself is a dramatic fantasy action-adventure, following a group of adventurers as they journey across Skyrim on a quest to prevent a second Oblivion Crisis, told over a span of several 7-10 minute episodes.

So, if you consider yourself a skilled and competent scripter, and are interested in potentially being part of the project, feel free to reply to this thread or send me a PM about it.

No wonder. You don't need a scripter at all. You can do all the work with scenes, idle markers and AI packages. Not saying that some scripts wouldn't do any good, but you can do it without said addition.

Well, that's good to know, I guess. My main concern is being able to have precise control over choreography, including facial expressions. I haven't investigated the scenes and packages quite enough to be tell if they offer the degree of control I'm looking for. Is there a comprehensive tutorial out there for creating scenes, other than the only-semi-helpful one over at the creation Kit Wiki?

The wiki is the only one that I know of. I believe all of the animations and facial expressions are controlled in the info's for each of your NPC's lines of dialog. I'm pretty sure you just select what animation you want them to play when they say each of their lines, and I think facial expressions are assigned there as well. It's the last menu you can go to for an info - the one you can record a voice file.

Alright, thanks. I guess I'll just keep messing around with the scenes and packages, and see what I can put together.
