I need help levelling my Orc Barbarian!

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:03 am

I have a level 20 dual axe wielding Orc Barbarin, who I love! The only thing is, I am only really levelling up 3 skills. Heavy armour, One handed and Smithing. I'm currently 50-60 on those three skills, but I'm starting to notice that I'm levelling slower. Now this isn't a huge issue, but I'm worried that I'm going to hit 100 on those 3 too soon and then I'm going to be stuck.

Has anyone managed to reach 50, only really levelling 3 skills? What other skills could be in keeping with my character?

Thank you :)

Since you're already that far in one handed,i recommend you to try using a shield,or if you do,use a spell in the left hand.

50? That's not the level cap...is there a reason behind this number?

As for skills, well...I suppose you could pick up some utility like alchemy or enchanting. Or a magic school, since it's pretty easy to swap out as long as you're only using left hand for spellcasting.

Enchanting and maybe switch between your 2 axes and a twohanded weapon.

You can't reach 50 by leveling only 3 skills... You could make use of other skills though... Sneak has it's uses... Barbarians are good at living off of the land as well so Alchemy could be useful and keep with the character type... Archery would work as well and be quite useful against dragons... Restoration would be a bit off for a Barbarian type but still useful and you will inevitably level Lockpicking and Speechcraft though Speechcraft goes up pretty slowly unless you make alot of successful intimidate attempts (assuming that as a barbarian you would have a predisposition to intimidation over persuasion)...

Reasoning behind 50 is that he's probably playing on a PS3 or Xbox 360 and wants the trophy/achievement for reaching level 50...

*sigh*

When will people realize IT'S NOT A COMPETITION TO GET MOST LEVELS!?

Try to enjoy every other aspect of the game than leveling.

Just sayin'.

i agree with the above comment.
in fact i'm trying to limit myself to lvl30 (like the perk in fallout)
any more than that is useless anyway for a specialised character. why?
because it means 30 perk points. if you add the smithing, the 1hd, heavy armor (barbarian) and even some sneak you can become great.
i don't need the full tree of perks from each category, but important ones.

i too have an lvl20 dual wielding axe orc. but a little more educated and not the barbarian dumb grunt. loves working with his hands and with his brain, not relying only on his brute force. when dealing with magic world you must open your eyes to it. enchantment is the way to improve his smithing. any more than that would be difficult thou.

Don't forget there are still trainers so you can level anything else 5 times every level without "using" it

Also why is everyone jumping on this guy? anyone realize he "might" want to just see an elder dragon, or fight a dragon priest at level 50 to see the challenge? this game was made to be experienced through levels 1 to 50 afterall, why jump on the guy for a question?

Thanks for the help everyone. I don't necessarily care about getting to level 50, it was more of a general question. I like the idea of alchemy, I already hunt for all my own leathers.

I'm trying to play a Genghis Khan style Barbarian. Leader of the Orcs, set forth to wreak havoc on Skyrim. It's a lot of fun...

For reference, my mage has 100 in four schools of magic plus enchanting, one skill at 70 or 80, about 50 in a couple of other skills, and a couple of 20 or so, and she is only level 47.

When will people realize that everybody plays the game differently?

Try to understand that you have no influence over anybody else.

Just sayin'.

Now, to stay on topic, OP, as others have said, you need to start leveling up some other skills. There's no way you'll hit 50 with only 3.
