I've been exploring caves, ruins, and homes and taking random items that look interesting (yes, I play a thief).

Some of these have become "stuck" in my inventory.

I have a lute and a bow, for example, of people I have never met. And I can't off load them into a chest in my house because they are "quest items".


I need to ask for help (I am asking for terrible spoilers!) here.

Does anyone know where I can start a quest where someone lost a bow (I think he's called "Delvin" or "Devin") and another one where someone lost a lute?

Bethesda staff: if you are reading this, it would be cool to allow a player to offload quest items into a chest in an owned house. That way we don't waste precious weight allowance on quests that we have not even started!

As far as I know, quest items don't weight anything, despite what the inventory says.

Please tell us if you managed to turn the items in. Some people have had trouble with quests and returning items if the needed item was acquired before receiving the quest.

I went to the farm, talked to the bow owner, he asked me to go get it, and i was able to feply "i already have it, here it is!"


I still don't know about the lute. I am heading to the bard's college to see if someone lost one.

im pretty sure the lute is from a bards college quest, but you need to be in the bads college to get the quest.

I still have the coral dragon claw in my inventory that I cannot get rid of... even after I've used it for it's intended purpose.
