Need help with Delvin fishing job?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:41 am

So I know Delvin randomly assigns people and items to pickpocket when asking for a fishing job and I got assigned Ogmund and I have to pickpocket his amethyst. Now all Ogmund does is stand in a corner and play music in a bar. This means someone is watching him and that means I can not pickpocket him without being noticed. I tried just trying to get the amethyst even if I got caught but I can not as he stops me when I try to get the amethyst.

Is this a bug or is there something I am missing?

p.s I posted this in the xbox 360 discussion board but to no avail. That is why I am posting it here

Why dont you just tell Delvin you dont want the job? Then he'll give you a new one.

EDIT: Cant spell.

Will try that once I am done with the final quest to become head of the guild.

Get better at pickpocketing and sneaking, then it's not a problem.

you can even drop and add quests until you get both in the same city, it can take a while sometimes but it can save you time in the long run, before I did that some, I was playing no fast-travel, between the 2 cities is an extra 4 loading screens and a lot of running if you have 2 big cities with far away shops

Had a bit of a tricky time with a forge ledger quest: got assigned the ledger for the Bee&Barb and had Talen-Jei following me all over the inn because I'd shaken down Keerava earlier, and it took a while to maneuver so that he was not on the staircase with me and I could break LOS long enough to scoot upstairs and get to work.

Most of them are pretty simple though, especially if you're on good terms with the proprietor, as they'll ignore you poking around in such cases.

I am trying to get the trader in there to get max gold, which I heard is a lot better than what merchants usually carry. Do I have to do all of the quests from Vex and Delvin?

I seriously did not know you could just drop a quest and take up another one until http://www.gamesas.com/user/753904-aphaea/ told me. Cheers for all the help!

Youre welcome

From UESP:
For each special job you complete, the Thieves Guild is improved slightly. Each special job successfully turned in adds a merchant to the Ragged Flagon, and completing the third and fourth jobs add recruits to the guild. Completing a Special Job also increases the Gold available to all of your fences up to a maximum of 4000. In addition, minor cosmetic changes can also be noted in the Ragged Flagon's Cistern. A carpet will be placed in the center platform in the middle of the room, and banners of the Thieves Guild will be emblazoned on the walls. Also, when you are arrested in a Hold that the Thieves' Guild has influence in, you will be given an option to bribe the guard even if you don't have the Bribery skill perk.

Thats not due to the thieves quest with Keerava, thats just innkeepers having no trust for your character until you do something nice for them, rightly so as I've stolen quite a lot from them ha.

If you do the quest, giving him some gems, he won't follow you.

I've noticed this as well. He'll actually take a version of the item that you were supposed to steal. So, if you were supposed to steal a Gold Necklace, and you have a Gold Necklace in your inventory and quit the job, he'll take that Gold Necklace. This is very annoying if you just enchanted and renamed it. :P

Except that I've long since done that quest, as I used it as part of becoming the Thane of Riften before joining the Thieves' Guild. He also said I had a lot of nerve coming back to the place after what I'd done (meaning the shakedown), which implies there's a reaction script overriding the favor flag; if this is the case it'd explain things, but I'd need the CK to check that.
