I'm the hoarder type of player and I'malways wondering about a few types of
items I've been collecting, if I'm storing them for nothing ?

Just a few examples:

- Chess Boards,
- Empty Salsaparilla Bottles,
- Tin cans (and Bent tin Cans),
- Empty Whiskey Bottles...

I'd like to know if you experts know of a list somewhere on this board or
elsewhere, of stuff you can safely sell because it's not part of any
crafting recipe, and you won't need these items in any part of the game ?

Failing that, is there a purpose for the item types I've listed above ?

Tin cans are used in some recipes, namely for Powder Charge if I recall.

Other than that, unless you have a rockkit launcher, they're all useless, and even with one a chess board flies poorly.

Though KOing someone with one would be hilarious.

Anything that's not on that list is safe to sell, ammo is not well covered in the article though, like I know for a fact legion denarius can be made into twelve gauge coin shot and that's not on the list. However it's a strong reference point

There is 1 minor quest in the game where someone needs metal, and will settle for tin cans and metal pots - so that you can keep your scrap metal

Keep ALL your scrap metal, collect it all , and always buy it all

Other key items to collect :
Duct Tape
Forceps
Detergent

those are used as ingredients in really good recepies, and are always the limiting factor

chess boards, teddy bears, etc are only useful (AFAIK) for selling

Basically all the junk made irrelevant by all the custom weapons eliminated in FONV.

I'm pretty sure Abraxo gets used in one or more campfire recipes? Maybe I'm thinking of box of detergent?
Chessboards, and empty whiskey bottles, and BENT tin cans are all usless for anything other than selling... Tin Cans, and Empty Soda Bottles are both used though...
I'd recommend doing what I did... sit down with a piece of paper and just go through the recipe lists, marking down the ingredients into a single list... There will be a few new recipes as you go, but so far the starting list seems to be the bulk of them.
