We NEED a mega challenging Arena in the game.

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:04 pm

Lets face it.....this game has excellent potential to have an arena that would be fantastic. And way more improved over the ok(ish) Arena from Oblivion.

They could make it extremely tough that even a level 81 character would have a tough time competing in. They could pit you up against 10 heavily armored warriors, throw in a bunch of dangerous animals, have certain traps where those boulders come tumbling into the arena, have fire circles on the ground etc. All sorts of major cool stuff.

It could be so friggin spectacular. And instead of going all boring like Oblivion where once you become champion you can only do battles with up to 3 wilderness animals once a week/month....you get to pick, find, recruit and train new Gladiators. Maybe you even get to take full charge of the Arena and it becomes like a business....and a home.

If you have ever seen the TV show Spartacus....like the character Quintus Lentulus Batiatus is. And just like Oblivion, you watch the fights aswell as take part in them. Be sittitng high above the Arena with your spouse and guards all around you.

Would make a great DLC expansion I think.

I think an arena system would be interesting. Make it a monthly tournament, where there is an elimination style progression to the finals. The npcs will be the same, so you can use strategy on familiar foes.

The arena in Oblivion was just a guild with ranks.

There was one, it was left out for unknown reasons.

It was supposed to be in Windhelm, behind the Palace of Kings. You can still access it via console or see it in full glory via the editor.

I dont think anyone would host an arena with the war and all the dragons thou. Or even after for that part. "Lets celebrate the end of the war by killing each other! yeah!"

More than just a place...

Global variables, scripts and faction are already there. It was supposed to be called 'The Pit'. The champion is called 'Pit Lord'. You can participate or bet on the outcome of matches arranged by the computer. Here's a list of scripts (and hint at a quest line) found with the Creation Kit:

wth is up with these types of responses.

i see them everywhere and they are useless.

we don't NEED skyrim.

after oblivions attempt at an arena type guild/quest system, i thought that the next game would take it to the next level with more creative gameplay ideas and fun times.

instead, nothing. a nordic land without some type of contestant fighting? has brawling replaced the arena, lol?

If I were a citizen of Skyrim, I'm not sure I'd want the Dragonborn putting life & limb at risk for entertainment. We might need him in some other crisis that only the mighty Dovakiin can tackle.

I always thought an arena was more of an Imperial thing than a Nordic one.

What we NEED is to have most of the problamatic bugs fixed first...then an arena could be nice.

I actually had an idea of an Arena mod I was planning to make but never got Skyrim for the PC so this is currently on-hold.

This is a game. We don't NEED anything. We WANT things!

I love your idea, and I'd be happy to get an arena at all. Hopefully DLC will introduce this (Althought it should have been in the game from the start).

You could say the same thing about Elder Scrolls IV......would they really host an Arena in the middle of the Oblivion crisis while all hell breaking loose with Oblivion gates and Daedra spawning everywhere?

I think it's strange that there was an arena in Oblivion and not in Skyrim. It seems like Nords would enoy an arena more than Imperials...

maybe not a gladiator type arena, but, more of a "you dropped your rock" kind of crude fighting.

if that makes sense, lol

If anyone has ever played "Shadow of Rome" for the Ps2 (xbox?) the arenas were set up really nice with fun, different battles and lots of great mechanics.

They should just add in Hircines Hunt and after you complete it he names you his champion so to speak and you have a greater power that can be used once every 3 days to teleport back to his realm/arena and fight new challengers in his honor. The big reward could be a new mount, the large rideable khajiits you here about in the TES novels. Think something along the lines of a big saber tooth cat to ride + it fights beside you.

The arena would be an inter changable area the size of the cities, sometimes it would be an abandoned city and you start with no weapons and have to search the ruins for them. Other times you start in a forest of underground ruin with your gear and just have to duke it out with all the other opponents.

This way its not for entertainment, (like people said the nords arent like the empire in that regards) its more about survival and reputation and not pissing off a daedra lord who enjoys taking skins.

The Arena was a distinctly Imperial thing, based on the Roman Colosseum. I am really not too sure an organized fighting ring would fit in Skyrim... Not one modeled in the classic "Oblivion Arena" anyway. I'm pretty sure when Vikings wanted to fight, they got on a longboat and started raiding monasteries in the British Isles. Maybe a Reaver faction where we can sail to High Rock and pillage Eight Divines chapels in the name of Talos of Atmora?
