We need an official timeframe

When is the x64 patch being released? PC gamers were promised IdStudio at launch. 20 days later and nothing. I know for a fact that I am not the only person who pre-ordered RAGE on that promise. I pre-ordered this title not for what I was expecting to get, rather I bought it for what It could become. Rage has massive potential and long term success if and only if we get the tools. Id has never let me down and Bethesda has always supported the mod community so I find it a bit baffling that nothing has been said. The stability argument does not fly because the game was still built on PC's running windows - so the tools have to be in decent shape. If you are working on a wiki or documentation and that's the hold up: release a beta version to modders willing to help add to the wiki. I have yet to run into a tool set that I can't figure out in a weekend and I contribute wiki content and tutorials religiously. So, whats up?

Yeah one of the main reasons I got the game was for the editing features which I'm waiting on too.
But I understand that they are pretty hard at work on getting the drivers etc etc all fixed up so us folks will have a clean running solid game as id has always done.
So I'd imagine that's their top priority right now.

I'm one of the lucky ones that played the game twice so far, 2nd time to go back and do all the side jobs. still looking for all the secrets though. Pretty good game, love it! the multiplayer racing is pretty fun too! but I want my id studio heh.

You're not the only one waiting man, we can wait, it will come..
But yeah an eta would be nice! :D

I pre-ordered on the promise of modding tools. :( (but won't play the game until it's fixed - im in no hurry)

but ... they were saying it's going to take a while already at quake con "after the fact" ... ""fact"" being the release date .. so after the release date

... "tuned up relatively soon" ... an indication for the super quality pack ;)

Well ... im fine, let them fix the game sooner , but on the other hand, i don't think todays studios have shortage that all need to work on patching and no ppl to take care of editor stuff, but yeah programmers imo are needed for both - depends on what they still need to finish. We have zero idea what's currently happening there in these past days but i can feel some kind of ... tension is going around obviously.

The tension and not knowing are whats getting to me the most right now. id has been honest to a fault about things in the past which is why I am really concerned about the information vacuum that's formed around this aspect of the game. If the code base got obliterated by some junior programmer and its all kinds of FUBAR - tell us! I have an inordinate amount of respect and patience with id because of how well they have always interfaced with the community. I was concerned when id announced that they were being bought out but when I saw it was ZeniMax doing the buying it allayed some of my fears. John said that id will still operate as usual and up until the game shipped id was acting like they always had. Now it seems something is wrong. My childhood was spent playing the games id made. I got into programming because of carmack's .plan updates and his releasing source code. To think that such a major influence on my life has changed for the worse bothers me a great deal. Information is such a simple yet powerful thing....
