Need router suggestion!

Post » Sun Sep 04, 2011 6:25 pm

I have a Linksys a&g router that's around 4-5 years old and I think it may have issues. My connection is fine and we're always showing the signals of an excellent connection. However, we are constantly having to unplug and reconnect the router to get back online. Now I have no problems getting another router. I just need some suggestions as to what's good out there for an Xbox 360.

Thanks

I personally use an http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124388 as my current router/WAP. Its fast and never needs to be rebooted. I also use a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124386(which I had many problems with its default firmware, but flashing DDWRT on it made it a very nice bridge)
Also you may have older firmware on your current router, have you checked to see if there is an update?

How would I go about checking that?

Well you first have to login to your router's webpage. (Most likely 192.168.1.1) Then depending on the router make and model it should have its firmware somewhere in there. Either on the top of every page or in the admin area. Then you go the manufacturers website and look for your routers firmware. Download it and go to the flash firmware page in your router settings. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq102/Starforce9/Checkforfirmware.jpg Make sure if you flash it you have a hardwired connection.
