Need some help. My custom voice works perfectly with greetin

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:33 pm

I finally set out to make my own follower using http://deck16.net/tagged/voiced%20follower amazing tutorial. My follower's dialogue for hello works fine, fully voiced with custom files. All the follower options are setup, he follows, waits and can be dismissed so no problems there. The .lip files and subtitles work fine but all I get is silent audio. I've setup the dialogue http://imgur.com/a/eqO9Y#0 as the greetings in the custom voice folder but they still refuse to work. From searching around I think it has to do with the unique voice not being in a formlist or something? I dragged it over to the http://imgur.com/a/eqO9Y#1 but it didn't help and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.
This is driving me insane because I know it's something simple I've skipped over. Could anyone point out what I'm doing wrong? It'd be much appreciated.

You see subtitles when speaking with him? If you don't get any response out of him then it's the dialogue bug introduced by 1.6.

However if you get him to say some things, or you see subtitles and there's just no audio, then you most likely have your audio formatted improperly.

It needs to be mono channel, 16-bit, 44100hz wave, or xwm. (Or packed into a fuz)

So long as you have the voice type selected in the traits tab of the actor window. Also make sure that you have the right file structure set up, and have named the folders appropriately.

Yes, he has all the subtitles I typed out for him and the .lip files work. The .wav files are exactly the same setting as his Hello's, which work fine. One of the problems I encountered when first setting up the greetings was that I needed a .lip, .fuz, and .wav files to get any response out of him. That worked, so I did exactly the same for the follower dialogue. I linked a picture in the first post of the folder setup. Does the follower dialogue go in a different folder? Do I have everything linked right? http://i.imgur.com/6IdjT.png

I just setup his combat dialogue the exact same way I setup greeting and follower dialogue. The combat voice files work perfectly, so it seems to only be the follower command that have no voice.

If you just record the WAV using the Creation kit - I know is rubbish, but just to test - does the audio work?

(just a thought, to try and narrow it down ...)

That tutorial... I haven't looked through all its pages so I don't know if this is stated anywhere as a disclaimer, but just FYI, I'm about 95% certain that any follower you create with its method--directly editing the FollowerDialogue quest--will conflict with all of the popular follower overhauls.

Nope, still doesn't work

Yeah I noticed that. The first time I tried it I couldn't even initiate dialogue, so I uninstalled my follower mods and it worked. I get the feeling I'll have to write my own follower dialogue quest but I wouldn't know where to start. Is there a guide anywhere?

It worked perfectly, thank you! He now has voiced follow and leave commands. I think I messed up the script a little though because he won't stop following me, even before I hired him. Welp, time to go learn about scripting. Thanks so much for this
