We need a Stargazer or something

It's been a few months and while the remains amazing in some many ways it is, for many of us, starting to get stale. Creating several character using all races and methods no matter much variety you do the game eventually ends up feeling like a broken record.

It's time to all the reallocation of perks. Hey it doesn't have to be easy but you're the Dragonborn you like challenges.
  • Must be level 50. This so because it shows that you have played your character long enough to have had to have made difficult choices with regards to your character build and see the positives and negatives.
  • Must have completed the main quest - This is an easy one. It forces player to "play the game" instead of ignoring the fact the World is in danger. PLUS you would have had to beat it with the choices in perks you've had to originally make. You shouldn't be allowed to use blacksmith and enchant and/or whatever to make uber awesome armor and weapons then clear all your points and place them strait in one-handed or heavy armor and THEN tackle the main quest. Nope. Gotta beat the main quest.
  • Costs all your money - Yes all. Money is beyond easy to make in Skyrim so there has to be some type of actually cost to do this. You don't need food, you don't need sleep, you can make and sell and steal an unlimited quantity of items so you have to give up the all the coins (not just those carried, stored gold too).
  • Have to wait at least 3 full moons (in game) to do it again. I'm guessing this is approx 90 days but I'm not sure of the Skyrim moon phases. This is so you don't pour everything alchemy for example, make tons of potions, take a nap and then move everything into lockpicking.
  • Add a "startgazer" NPC in all the major holds that would accomplish this OR add an area to a specific location discovered toward the end of the main quest (no spoilers) where this could be done.

Just think it would be a great way to get me playing again. Right now waiting for DLC.

Why not just make a new character? If you've played to level 50 it might be time to create a new one, instead of trying to level only to level.
The game stops to scale at that point anyway.

Yeah you're probably right. OK 10,000 gold or something hefty.

I'm definitely in favor of this idea, especially considering how many hours you can put into a character. However, instead of a full reset, how about being able to pay to remove a perk of your choice to use on something else?

I'd rather have some kind of quest or ritual that you have to complete in order to reset your perks. Not only does paying gold to unlearn stored abilities make very little sense, but that also would make it easier to fit in to a "Can only be done once every X days" thing.

Why do you call a perks reset mechanism a Stargazer? Must be a marketing person.

Anyway, there are many mods to address this. And if Bethesda ever wants to address this for the console players, it has to have multiple options to cater for different playstyles. Example

1. 5000 gold per perk
2. 3 dragon souls per perk
3. 2 filled black soul gems per perk
4. 1 daedric artifact per 3 perks
5. 1 radiant quest per perk

we dont need to change our perks, make a new character (Which is part of the reason this game exists, to remake your character 500 times to get your face ot look right, 100 more times to get the right class/skills/signs/ect)

I would say this is the answer, I am doing this with all my builds once they hit level 50 they are effecivly retired, maybe until the DLC comes out, though who knows I may recreate all my builds and start over from Level 1 and play it like a whole new game. For me I like to set rules on my charachters, when I initally build them, l use the following rules to limit myself:
1. Each charachter can only perk 6 total skills, that I pick based on the build.
2. Only one skill may be a crafting skill.
3. I raise the initial perk in each skill as I raise the first 6 levels, only then I can I take additional perks in the skill trees
4. Rule three is repeated again at level 11, 21, 31, and 41 at this point the inital perks will be maxed... for magic skills I use the novice, adept, ,,,, expert part of the tree as the 1 -5 that you would see on the other trees.
5. When looting, I will only take items I will use.. i.e lockpicks, gold, gems, magic weapons and armor.... though I may only have 1 extra set of armor and 1 extra melee and 1 extra ranged weapon at a time. (I usually only take these for enchanting purposes) so if the charachter does not use enchanting ever.. i.e Beserker/ Warrior builds, I leave them behing too)
6. I can use any of the other skills that I would like, but may not perk them, for example my Battlemage may perk enchanting, but may also use smiting (I limit this to weapon/ armor improvements only I also had a ranger build that liked to make jewlery)
7. I set up a formula for how health / stamina / and magicka will be distributed as part of the build and then stick to it. I find that following these rules keeps the game challenging and I don't feel i need to move my perks once all is done.... plus by mainly concentrating on 6 skills, the road from level 40 to level 50 is very, very, very long.
