I Need The Blood of Many

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:37 am

I am on a quest (can't remember the name) and now am required to get the blood of several races. Among them are high elf, wood elf, orc and some others. I'm sure that any who've hit this quest know what I'm talking about.

I am unsure how to accomplish this. Do I need to meet up with these guys and croak them or is there some sort of method where these guys can be induced to attack me? So far with many hours of play, the only race I've gathered is high elf due to a conflict I had with a master necromancer in a pass.

I've never had an orc attack me and I'm on good terms with them having done a quest or two in their strongholds so the last thing I want is to just croak one to gather blood. I also feel pretty odd about finding some other races and just killing an innocent to fulfill the quest's demands.

Any suggestions on how to proceed here?

Been a while since I've done this, but I'm pretty sure that you just have to activate a dead body of the race you're looking for and it'll give you the option to take their blood or search their corpse.

You can refer to this page on wikia which gives a good listing of where you can obtain blood for each race without having to kill innocent people.

Try some illusion spells that make enemies hostile. You won't get a bounty on your head that way.

Discerning the Transmundane. Go to Liar's Retreat (all types except High Elf) and Northwatch Keep for Altmer - they will attack you in both places.

You have to kill the target and when you go to loot the bodies you'll get the option to harvest blood.

Edit:
When you get the ultimate reward you might want to keep it because of it's uniqueness. Brief, vague description (we can go into more detail if you like):
Spoiler
the item you receive gets 'used up' when you use it so if you want to keep it post back here for exploit instructions that will allow you retain the item after usage.

Every race in the game will be generated as a random bandit at one point or another. You don't have to resort to magick to complete this quest.

Yeah. after I got that assignment, I cleared a random dwemer ruin and two forts and I had all the blood I needed. Orcs are pretty common as bandit heavy. Wood Elves are pretty common as archer bandits. High Elves and Dark Elves are more likely to be mage types.

OK, people. Thanks for your tips and specific ideas.

@SheridanR - yeah, I know this but I want to complete this quest as a whole rather than wandering around the world for another 100 hours hoping that the right races will attack me.

As to all races attack, perhaps, but I really cannot remember an orc attacking ever. Maybe they did and I forgot.

There are lots of orc bandits in forts and cave outposts.

No doubt, but for some reason, I've never encountered a bandit orc.

You can't have cleared bandit dungeons and not ever encountered an orc. That's impossible. You probably just didn't realize it because they had helmets on?

You're no doubt correct. There is another twist, though. I had to suspend paying for two months due to not being able to sit at the console so I could easily have forgotten the encounters.

There's always been one on the Grindstone in Halted Stream Camp in my games if you need to check it off your 'list'. :P

OK. I'll give those orc options a try. Mostly likely, I've just forgotten the encounters.

Bilegultch Mine, South and a little East of Rorikstead, is populated entirely by Orc bandits.

I had no trouble getting all the blood. I knew I would find Altmer and Dunmer in Necro/Vampire lairs and I stubled across a Bosmer Silver-Hand entirely by chance at Gallows Rock, which is a fort a little south-west of Windhelm.

Keep in mind that you don't need to be the one who is personally responsible for the deaths of those whose blood you harvest... any old dead body of the right race will do. I think I got half of what I needed just by stumbling over folks who were already dead when I found them.

If you're in a hurry to get the quest done though, looking for fresher sources will definitely speed things up. I think the last one I needed was Altmer and I knew there was a dead one somewhere I'd already been but it was a long way back there and why hello Thalmor Justiciar I just happened to meet on the road to Markarth on this fine afternoon. Tell me, my mer friend... have you let Talos into your heart? :bunny:

What's odd is that I'm encountering almost no random bandits on the road any more. I thought it had something to do with my LVL as I'm at 51 now. They used to be thick as cliff racers but no more.

I've never really encountered bandits on the road. Near caves, camps, etc.. sure, but not really ever on the road.

Did you read the page I liked above? There's a list of lots of locations you can get the blood from, including a few that you can get all except altmer in one spot.

Go to Liar's Retreat. You should find every race there except a high elf, which you can get at the embassy.

All but dunmer are real handy, right there in Alftand. And there's a single dunmer corpse in Reeking Cave just down the hill and north of the Thalmor Embassy.

Every Race but Dunmer is already in Alftand, if you are past level 15 and in a hurry.
Ninja'd :ninja:
There is a Dunmer involved in the Forbidden Legend quest in Folgunthur, too.

I always go to the Halted Stream Camp just north of Whiterun, it's got Orc for certain, usually wood and dark elf and in the very back is a dead high elf impaled on some spikes. Then all you need to do is skip over to some dwarven ruins for falmer blood.

Liars retreat should have all the blood you need, all races except high elf should be there and they're "bad guys" so no need to worry about killing and harvesting their blood ;)

you have to activate a dead body like your searching it then a option "harvest blood" should pop up if you dont have that blood type yet

Can you give me a rough idea of where Liar's Retreat is? Sounds familiar but per my other post, I had to suspend gaming for over two months.
