So, if you are a facebook user it's impossible not to notice the new functionality that facebook unveiled today. Now, this is supposed to be just the primer for a massive overhaul that's reportedly taking place next week. I'm personally on the fence about keeping my membership there. The new design is supposed to streamline the experience, adding "more of what you want, and less of what you don't" but ultimately, it's my opinion that it has destroyed what made fb stand out in the first place. It's now put "petty comments" off to a side bar, and combined the top news stories of the day into a "convenient" drop down menu. I've had my news feed filtered to my liking for some time now, and this has ruined it for me. I'm having trouble just finding simple items that I normally look for. Facebook is obviously incredibly successful (look at what happened in Egypt) so why would they want to overhaul it? It obviously worked wonders as is. While I understand that it's ultimately their IP, and as such they have the right to make it whatever they want, but why risk alienating your members (the sole reason for success) to make "improvements" that seemingly no one wants or likes? Anyway, what's your take on the new design?
