New Class Idea

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:38 am

With the implementation of the horse combat there could be a few new 'classes' per say.

1). Ranger- always on a horse when able, and uses bow combat when he is. Fast and lethal.

Put most perks into archery and enchanting to make better weaponry and enchantments, wont really need to rely on armor since you will rarely be hit on horseback.

What do you guys think?

No one uses horses except for RP purposes unfortunately at least as far as ive seen. The only point of them really is to mountain climb, and skyrim doesn't have many of THOSE kind of hills like in oblivion, at least from what ive seen.

I use them to fast travel when over-encumbered, and to travel to new places, they're useful

Horses have been nothing but trouble for me. Much easier to be stealthed off a horse, obviously :P

It's not practical, but it is something new and could be challenging at times. When in dungeons, just be an archer. Haha

My character doesn't really use stealth, I decided to make him a tank, I kinda just charge in there. I guess horses are better for certain roles than others

I feel you. It's just for a change of pace, almost all of the 'classes' have been tried. Now we just need to combine elements of the game to make new 'classes.'

Archery just seems a little inaccurate in horse combat, you might want to get a mod to fix that.

I'm on console. You can't fire behind you at all which is unfortunate, but gotta learn to adapt.

You also can't fire at someone just below you

not sure why you guys seem to have trouble shooting from horse back. you stop shoot move and repeat. unless the guy is an archer or an animal he is not going to catch you.

It's hard as hell to hit a moving target, or if something is in the way

What are you shooting at. Most enemies go straight at you the only exception being wolfs who seem to circle.

I was attacked by a bear and three trolls, thats probably why I had difficult. They all came from different angles, plus I was just trying it out on a warrior class so my archery was pitiful. Overall, it was fun and am currently making a wood elf build. I will focus on archery, enchanting, stealth (until i get x3 bow sneak damage). Not sure after that. Any suggestions?

Laughably slow. Easy targets, but since my archery was so low it was difficult.

I've always seen ranger characters as foot mounted characters. And if I were you I would focus on the following skills, in order: One-handed, Archery, Sneak, Block, with alittle Alchemy for health/stamina potions, as rangers tend to live off the land. Sneak up on your enemies, pick a few off with your bow, then rush in with a one handed sword (no sheild). Fast, nimble, and agile. Take them out as quick as possible. I would stay away from all types of magic, as rangers are warriors not mages. But I hate magic so that may not be as appealing to to you as it is to me. I think a ranger would be best suited in light armors.
