New DLC Deal

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:35 am

Okay I have been waiting and keeping an eye out for the new DLC like everyone else and I found a thing that says the DLC will be out sometime soon. But it will only be free apology downloadable for two weeks. I personally think this is kind of cheap and wrong for a few reasons.

1. If someone is not around or does not notice it are they going to have to pay for the fixes to the games ai and weapons?

2. I get an odd feeling Bethesda might try and pull a fast one by releasing the DLC but not making a big announcement about when. Thus making it so people don't notice it is released.

3. And finally, does it basicly make it so someone that buys the game after the two week period have to also buy the DLC as well for the fixes?

So unless the fixes that I have read will be in the DLC will instead be in a patch at the sametime, then I get a feeling this is Bethesda becoming more and more like the rest of the money grubbing game developers.

I still say it's more Splash Damage's issue then Bethesda.

Well I dont think you were waiting and keeping an eye out if you're just now making a post about it. This has been known for quite some time now. Yes its going to only be free for two weeks.....but its still going to be free. About the fixes and updates I dont believe those are apart of DLC but will be released around the same time. And if someone were to buy the game after that two week period of free DLC then yes they would have to buy the DLC.

That's a silly technicality about it being free. That statement is false, it's a limited time thing.

Yeah, you know what. My computer is free too.

Oh, damn, you missed that half second deal, now you'll have to pay for it.
I guess it counts, I mean, it was free.

Are we seriously complaining that this company is giving us the opportunity to get this DLC for free?!?!??! What a bunch of whiners!!

Anyone who is ANY sort of gamer who is at all interested in Brink or gaming has or while hear about this deal. For Playstation, they highlight this stuff on their Blog. I'm sure on Steam there will be a big add, and XBLA probably has similar way of communicating. For those that get Brink later in life or don't sign on to their sytem in those two weeks, yeah they'll miss out. But wow!!?!? We're complaining that they've told us for a month about free DLC.....

Dude. I don't see the DLC.

But you know, it's not like this game is the ONLY one that has ever had free DLC. But i'm sure this is the only one that's about two months late on such DLC. Usually i'm psyched about free DLC, but here's the difference. THIS is to make UP for lacking content. Usually it's supposed to ADD ON.

So, yeah, i'm [censored]ing that I still don't have the extra content that was probably supposed to be on disc anyways.

I'd argue that most DLC is just a rip off and should've been on the disc. Like most of EAs game that just require you to buy an unlock code for what's already ON the disc.

I don't care.

Here's my bottom line; the DLC is late, and this is a pretty [censored] thanks for being patient reward for everyone who didn't sell this game. Not to mention, that is pretty much a slap in the face when they go back and say it's only limited time free. Yeah, it's free, but I know I payed $60 for a $30 game. This DLC is just about a fourth of the content on the game.

1. Is this thread AT ALL necessary? Can we PLEASE start enforcing the "search" options?! I am SO SICK of these forums being littered and filled to the brim with this DLC garbage. One thread is enough!
Our mods go ape-sht over the dumb crap but allow this spam to keep going?

2. The DLC is going to be free for a limited time, this has been known for some time. And Chaos is just looking for an argument as usual. (BTW: Lame ass "computer" argument. half a second = two weeks apparently?)

3. DLC is still a relatively new thing in the gaming industry. Unfortunately, pricing issues will continue to exist for awhile. I have bought some DLC that didn't feel tacked on or like it should have been on the disc to begin with (namely with Mass Effect 2). Stop whining and start offering some constructive criticism to the developers and marketers who create and price it all.

You apparently don't seem to understand hypocrisy and the fact I was using sarcasm.
No, wait, I take that back. Not sarcasm, hyperbole.

You were using a "hyperbole" to cover for yourself when you were called out on your wrong statement.

You have no idea what a hyperbole is, do you?

Because, i'm pretty sure that statement is twenty different kinds of dumb if you knew what it was. (Oh look, another one!)

If there is a good reason for the delay of DLC, than so be it. I normally pay for DLC for games I like anyways, so the free thing is just an added bonus.
However, the patch should have been releases already. PSN releases updates on Tuesday's, but any game can update itself whenever it wants from what I recall.

Didnt we think their was a good reason to delay Brink? for 2 years?

Being someone who works as a programmer and relies on the stability of technology and teh constant changes and demands that it entails, I understand that sometimes thing are delayed and snowball out of control. A game delay is frustrating, but there are many games to keep you occupied while you wait.
My problem is not with DLC, but with patches and fixes. Especially if not all platforms get them simultaneously.
Being a PS3 player, I have not had to deal with the issues the PC players have had, so to me Brink wasn't that flawed.
Wanna talk about a delayed and very flawed game? How about that Duke Nukem?
