This is great. It shoots and sounds like a cannon and even has a recoil when he fires...and his shots are blue now...and LOUD. lmao. I just love it!

I put the Veteran Ranger Combat Armor on Boone and we went to Fiend Territory. It was my first look at how the patch is working. Anyone have other experiences with the new toys?

I did head over to the Abandoned BOS bunker to check on it but it still needs a key.

And just wow...Boone chooses the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle over the Gobi. I don't think I've seen him fire an EW before.

Boone uses tri-beam laser rifle over Gobi? now that's a first...

Also a little question about ED-E, does he aim better now with the patch?

Well, as far as ED-E goes ... I'm right there with ya!
His upgrade is freaking awesome! The blue pulse cannon is fantastic. Also, the patch fixed (for me, at least) the glitch where he wouldn't follow or fight anymore.

I don't know that that's something I can answer. I've seen people say Ed-E is nothing but a pack mule but in my games, even early on, he takes down scorpions alone and I just saw him turn a Fiend into a blue disintegrating pile of something. I should have gone up and looked but I didn't save since I was just checking things out. He doesn't always hit but I find him much more than a pack mule...maybe it's in the stats or SPECIAL?

As for Boone choosing the Tri-Beam over the Gobi, I checked the weapon stats and it's quite a bit less on the Gobi now. I'm not thrilled about that...but I'll deal. I'm an EW gal but I liked him being a beast of a sniper. I haven't checked the stats on the All-American yet which he prefers over the Gobi anyway, even when both are at full repair. (ADDED: The All-American hasn't changed from what I can tell with my insufficient Guns skill. The DPS/DAM seem to be the same.)

Added: Jaymes, is that what it is? A blue pulse cannon? It's great and I like how it goes BOOM!

Wait what!? My ED-E doesnt shoot blue laser....

I don't know for sure ... pulse weapons are the only ones I know of that are blue.
I'm probably wrong.

Still, like you said, it's great and the sound of it is just cool.
ED-E has officially become my favourite companion! He's mostly quiet, always watches my back and (now, at least) never gets lost, even in Vault 22.
Plus, I love seeing him burn down anyone who messes with us. :mohawk:

My ED-E randomly switches from the red laser to the blue blasts

Both seem pretty strong, and the red laser is much more accurate


I want a weapon that fires the same things ED-E's new attack does, maybe a unique version of the Plasma Caster? Tesla Caster? :3

So is is laser better from the patch or better because of what was mentioned in the spoiler tags? I never used him as a follower so I know little about it.

In my opinion, definitely better from the patch.
Before, after his upgrade, his weapon was about the same. After ... heck, there is no comparison.
I'm sure some will disagree so you'll have to decide. :shrug:

Does this blast look like either Liberty Prime's eye laser or the Tesla Cannon blast?

It's been a while and I don't remember how those looked.

I loaded again to check. It's a stream of blue & white light but not a long stream. When a shot hits the Fiend, it's a small blue sunburst. When it disintegrates the Fiend, it's a larger blue cascading sunburst that leaves a regular ash pile on the ground. I tried putting him on melee to see if that changed anything but he wouldn't fire in that situation.

Got this dialogue;
Fiend: "When I find you, I'm going to eat your spleen."
Boone: "Eat this!"

Excellant, can't wait to get the new patch just to watch ED-E devastate his foes or my foes. His foes are my foes and vice-versa anyway.

ED-E's awesome blue laser balls or what ever they are are freaking bad ass! And she, I think of her as a she, actually kills things now.

Wait is the new patch out for the 360? And whats this about Ed-E Armour upgrade?

This blue cannon upgrade you're talking about, is it acquired from upgrading ED-E at the Old Mormon Fort with the Followers? I've never seen ED-E fire a blue cannon, which update are you talking about by the way? Is it out on 360 yet?

to the 2 last poster, it's coming with the new patch, it should be out on 360 today or tomorrow.

Let me get this straight...
I sent ED-E to get the armor upgrade, because the other part wouldn't contact me... ED-E now floats around standing still, doing nothing, and has no weapons, Melee nor Ranged.
Will the patch fix this?

I can answer an earlier question by saying that I never got an armor upgrade for ED-E in his quest. I wanted him to be more handsome but felt the Laser would help to save my life. He does get cleaned up some even with the Laser upgrade.
