Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:58 am

Currently im at work, but i noticed nvidia had new drivers up stating that they have improved some compatability with Fallout NV. I cant try them till i get home, but was wondering if anyone else has tried them and if any of the issues have gone away with them.

The game run alot better with the new driver, it was hard for me to notice a difference when I removed the d3d9.dll even when around alot of npc's.

My game still crashes though, damn 0xc0000005 stop error.

The new drivers apear to make the game run smoother, however my framerates are still in the toilet, overall worse with these drivers. I'm also discovering lots of bugs that make the game unplayable. For example, workbenches do not seem to work at all for me in so many ways I find it hard to explain. This game should not have been released. What a waste. Gonna go to GOG and download Torment like I should have done.

Sorry for the rant, but these guys arent saying a damn thing about their broken game.

To everyone who is interested, as previous posts in this forum have suggested, there is a way to remove FPS drop and stuttering without a impact of visuals.

All you have to do is go to the fallout NV nexus, and download a d3d 9 dll which fixes the FPS drop. It doesn't change any of the looks whatsoever, it just makes the visuals run efficiently and neutralizes the FPS drops.

After this, there is still stuttering. But this can be removed by simply turning off some water settings and toning down the AA and AF.

Here is what I did, and believe me I don't notice any difference in visuals, it looks like it is maxed out.

First off, I got that d3d9.dll and put it into the Fallout: New Vegas MAIN DIRECTORY, not the data directory. After that, and getting this new nvidia driver I went into my fallout NV graphics options and made everything max, including resolution except I put AA to 4x, and AF to 8x.

Then I went into water settings and turned off full scene reflections, and full detail reflections, and turned reflection quality to medium. Then I went into shadows and disabled them completely.

After tweaking this, there is good FPS, especially around AI and there is NO stuttering.

And again, I don't notice a difference in visuals, the water looks the same to me, I really think these minute adjustments make all the difference in the world rendering the game playable.

I added the the new drivers and they have helped some... but I am still getting so lagging and frame rate drops (the drop in file doesn't help).

The sad part is Nvidia got a patch out today for 1 game out of all the games that their card support. Bethesda released NO patch for their one and only current game..... oh well maybe tomorrow.

BTW is any one else unable to hear the music on the Pip boy?

Seems the problems with the aa are fixed ( flickering, white edging on objects, flashing white squares etc) but that the only improvment ive seen.

The drivers shot my stability to sh-t. Completely. Since launch I had a single crash. Since I updated the drivers, I've gotten a crash every 20 to 30 minutes.
