New Patch/DLC

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:34 pm

So, I tried playing the game after reading about the new patch. First I wanted to see what Big Teams was all about. From the looks of it, it's EXACTLY like how Standard mode used to be. The game is still unplayable most of the time. I tried the other modes and they are all a little better "lag wise". It's still hit or miss for a lag free game. They also made the other modes have only 4 human players on each side and the rest have to be bots, which is bulls***. The graphics are also the same "blurry, pixelated, whatever". It seems like SD did nothing. I really do enjoy Brink, I think it's a bada** game when I can actually play it. The DLC looks promising maybe... making it free is a plus. The game has so much POTENTIAL, all you have to do is fix the lag, graphics and add what the people are asking for. Brink is good but if you listen to us, Brink can be GREAT.

For all who haven't read this... http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/13/brink-updates-now-live-free-dlc/

I also heard the FULL update is coming out next week, is this true?

Thanks for the link - hadn't read that.

New maps will be most welcome, particularly some larger ones.

If the devs are reading this, I have some map and DLC suggestions:

Capture the bridge
Capture the convoy
CTF mode
Take and hold mode
LMG's that can be used by mediums
More Assault Rifle types
Tripwires
Motion sensor alarms
Tweak the challenges (too much luck involved in some of them!)
A stadium map?
A map based on a huge boat?

i dunno maybe ive been playing this game to much but ..if you do campaign co-op it is exactly the same as freeplay just without the lag and you can invite in friends or they can just join on you..now granted this is for the 360 of course..i couldnt do all that keyboard wasd stuff for pc in a game that requires you to be a little fast paced and this is comming from someone that played WoW for 5yrs..now if the campaign was a storyline and the freeplay was just maps from the story line a lot like every other fps then it would be different...i think that SD tried way to hard to be different and in doin so what they did was made a co=op campaign game which is awesome but they should have never added freeplay features ..they could have used the time ,effort and money that they put into freeplay and extended the co-op campaign for 7 or 8 more missions and we would still be playing multiplayer all they would have had to do is add a simple Vs mode which oh yeah they did..so in co-op campaign you can select Versus mode..lol..bottom line you can get the same results in co-op campaign with out having to join on random people that dont speak to you anyway...play with your friends or against them..and be about 90% lag free.

One problem I have with this news.

They say that the FIRST DLC update will be free.

What does that mean for any futrue DLC's?

It means that you will no doubt have to pay for future DLCs. Like 90% of games out there that release new DLC... /palm

Well the content Brink had from launch wasn't much. To capture a solid community and bring a lot of players over from the CoD's and the Battlefield's, Bethesda and Splash Damage are going to need to buckle down big time with their DLC; if I want just maps I'll go play Call of Duty, Brink is all about customization and uniqueness, thats why I bought it.

ok first yes tweak the challenges but lmgs that mediums can use no that would be over powered.

I don't get why people want to get such boring game modes for such an awesome game, when it's easy to just pick some objective that involves killing if you want something like TDM.
And we're not only in need of more assault rifles, we need more weapons of every kind, and more clothes, tattoo's, face paints, hair styles and it should be possible to have piercings, in my opinnion atleast. Also a lobby would make it alot easier to play with friends, which would be kind of nice since it's a game that requires some teamwork.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It really made no sense for thim to make a free play mode seeing the co-op campaign has a versus option just like you said. This is probably the smartest s*** iv'e read all day.

When I read the link you posted it seemed like they were saying that the 4 humans on each side and the rest being bots was only going to be a temporary thing so that we can play a game without all the lag. I'm sure once they fix the lagging issues then we will get the option to play without bots again. Personally I hope they fix it soon because I am not a fan of playing against these bots with friends. Everything is just too easy.
