New school of magic: Telekinesis (idea)

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:56 pm

I don't think I'm the only one that would love to have more magic related content in Skyrim, and I have a suggestion of away to expand the magic: by making "telekinesis" it's own school of magic.

What I mean with "telekinesis" would be spells that you would use to interact with a distant target, by e.g. pushing, pulling, throwing and gripping the target. Some example of these spells would be:

*Push - a spell that push your target (an enemy or object). This spell would work like Unrelenting Force, but wouldn't be as strong and would only work on one specific target (the one that you aim at)

*Repulse - A weaker push in all directions that knocks your enemies of their feet

*Pull - A spell that is similar to "push", but pulls the target towards you.

*Levitation - A spell that removes the gravity for a short while, which stops the battle for a moment.

* Grip - Grabs your target and lifts them off the ground.

I know that there already is a "telekinesis" spell. I suggest that that spell is renamed to "throw", make it better (make it able to throw people too) and make it to a spell of the telekinesis school.

By giving this new school of magic it's own skill tree, we could have perks that increase the throwing length and force of our spells, and so on.

I don't know if there is some lore that contradicts this suggestion of adding a new school of magic, but maybe somebody over at Winterhold could be the discoverer of this new kind of magic.

Do you think the idea is good/bad?

Discuss!

I don't think telekinesis, being just one spell, would call for an entirely new school of magic. Especially since you are just using the same exact spell in different ways, plus in dawngaurd they are improving telekinesis anyway. But anyway I don't think it's a good idea to have one spell be its own school of magic.

Maybe it could be modded, but don't expect it from Bethesda since they've been reducing/combing the schools.

I wouldn't mind if these were added as singular spells into the alteration school.

Yeah, Vampire Lords in Dawnguard are supposedly going to be able to use telekinesis on living foes.

Bethesda aren't going to make a new school of magic out of thin air. We already have pull and push of objects and soon to be people. Leviation would reveal the weakness of the consoles draw distance.

Additional telekinesis-based spells would be welcome but an entirely new school just seems pointless.

in the old games telekinesis was part of the mysitc school.but they got rid of the mystic school in skyrim and put some of the spells from that school into the alteration school. so u want telekinesis play oblivion and morrowind. or make a mod.

I think the school of magic you're looking for is alteration, I do want new spells like this in alteration though.
