New Skyrim character!

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:42 am

I want to do a new character. I just came of an unsuccessful Breton Nightblade. My favored races are:

Argonian, Khajiit, Breton, Orc, and Imperial in that order. What fun thing can I do, in these races that is not at all like a nightblade?

Khajiit have the highest unarmed damage AND a 15 point bonus on top from claws. Make a heavy armor unarmed khajiit badass. :P

That seems... a little bit impractical. How would I go about doing that?

There is a perk in heavy armor that adds the Armor Rating of your gauntlets to unarmed damage, so this can do some huge damage with fully smithed and perked out heavy armor tree.

This is just a little "Fun" build.. something different from swords and magic. And the finishing moves are very satisfying.

Why was your Breton unsuccessful?

Lore wise, Khajiit hate Heavy Armor, though. I'd never be able to live with myself... Also, enchanting is Magic and Khajiit tend to not have a lot of talent in Magic. I'm okay with a Khajiiti Skirmisher or Scout, but not Heavily Armored Cat Warrior

I found that the playstyle wasn't fun for me in Skyrim. Being a Nightblade used to mean unparalleled movement capacity and being absolutely deadly at close range. A versatile, deadly stealth agent. Quiet Casting and Muffle were both brilliant additions. But the magic system in general is just super gimped. I also don't like the College quests at all, and resent needing to go to that half finished place to get access to paralysis and invisibility.

How about an Orc two handed berserker, who uses no magic save for possibly a few potions he buys? I tried one briefly before concentrating on a different character, and it's very different form a Nightingale.

I have never done a two handed character before... That sounds neat. Is Heavy Armor viable for this character? I don't like wasting a race's +10, makes me feel dirty.

Could be. I've never used heavy armour though. Too slow for my liking. Heavy armour is protection against melee enemies, light armour is indirectly more effective against mages & archers, as you can close quicker or escape. With the amount of time you'll be spending in close combat you're armour skill should be quickly levelling up anyway, but I could be wrong. Or if you're going from an RP perspective, heavy armour would be going the most logical way.

I have three suggestions for you, from the three classes I've build and played:
  • Smuggler: Essentially a "stealth archer," but banned from anything in the magic school. The class is designed to wear un-perked light armor (or none at all) on Master difficulty, forcing you to stay hidden or die. I perked out the Alchemy tree for potent poisons as well.
  • Cleric: Modeled after a D&D Cleric, this is a 1h mace only (with shield), specializing in restoration magic, alteration, and beneficial potions (no poisons). I'd choose between Smithing and Enchanting. I played this on Expert, as Master was simply frustrating.
  • Summoner: (current, and favorte) See my signature for a description.

I'm interested in this. How would I go about it?

This is more or less the build I used: http://skyrimcalculator.com/#84519

The idea is to stay hidden. If you engage a group of enemies and they start looking for you, you need to retreat and stay hidden, then re-engage. Poisons will add a new element (i.e. Frenzy poison into a group of enemies). Smithing has two points so you can improve whatever gear you buy/find. This build is by no means OP, but it's fun as hell (imo). I played this as a Khajiit, but you can pick any race really.
