NIFs for other games don't work in Skyrim (Just llike Morrowind Nifs don't work in Oblivion and neither of them work in the Fallouts)
There also are no exporters right now,so you can't save Skyrim Nifs directly from your 3D program.

What you need to do is loading your Oblivion model in http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope, export the mesh as .OBJ, and import it into a Skyrim NIF (select an existing NiTriShape first, if you just import as a new node UV mapping may get get lost.)

I'ts explained in more detail once a week in these forums.

You have to tweak tour statics in nifskope, but beware that collision meshes doesn't work anymore like they worked in OB and FO games, only the convex shape collision can be used with some hacks to the nif in nifskope. I suggest to check this thread on the niftools forums:

http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3433&start=0

The problem is that at the moment nobody is working on a new version of the max plugins, so we are going pretty much to not be able to import anything that is solid. You can still try using convexshapes but is a waste of polygons and you would spend ages making basic collision.
