A (new?) theory on Dawngaurd

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:25 pm

ZeniMax (Bethesda's parent company) has registered Dawngaurd for the use in “Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices” (http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=%2085546517)

This could be for anything, maybe Skyrim DLC. Okay, so OLD NEWS. Well, what could it be for?

I have heard the obvious “Something about Mythic Dawn” but, we have been there done that. Others say, “Something about Dawnstar” after all there is a phone game based around Dawnstar. Finally, “something about Hammerfel” because Todd wants to redo ____ and Redgaurd also has the name guard in it.

As this is all wild speculation I would like to see what you all think about this. I was reading lore, and came across an interesting fact: A Dragon Break (break in time) is called a Middle Dawn. The reading of an Elder Scroll caused the first recorded Dragon Break

on top the Throat of the World

Could this have something to do with it?
Cold the DLC be a when and not a where?
Could time need to be repaired in some way after the events of the main quest?

Wouldnt that limit the whole dlc to characters that have finished the main quest ...I think it would be a little restricting ...hopefully its jot that since I didnt do the MQ for some of my favorite characters

I agree that it would be restrictive, but it wouldn't be a first for Bethesda. Fallout 3 had a DLC that depended on the completion of the MQ.

True, but that came as a respond to the outrage that you couldn't play after the Main Quest.

But yes, it could still be a DLC.

I honestly dont care what its about as long as its a new place with more interesting terrain, More impressive enemies and some new stuff like maybe another perk tree and upgraded vampires and werewolves + maybe some quest for both and a couple more radiant quest variations ....I know im asking for a lot ...but Im keeping my hopes up

The timewarp itself is already there and has been for a long time

However, it only becomes useful after getting the Elderscroll. Which stayed as non-dropable in my inventroy even after I completed the MQ
But, yha, I totally agree that it is restrictive. I am just pointing out something neat I read. I like the idea of not having to do anything in the MQ in order to do the DLC (I liked that a new character could go to the Shivering Isles).

I do NOT want to travel through time in my DLC and alter the space time continuum and all that. Cause then I could accidentally kill my dad and never live thus never killing my father thus being caught in an eternal paradox. Such is the way of The Elder Scrolls, a paradox

Middle Dawn is actually a slight reference to an earlier period in TES history

The dawn was a period before Nirn's creation, back when everyone was godlike spirits. That state of being is the Thalmor's ultimate goal. But to reach it the Thalmor have to destroy Nirn. So Dawnguard - Preventing the dawn.

God lets hope the DLC is not based around dragons they got old fast in the vanilla version. I agree with azura's pawn about the werewolf and vampire thing, or really just anything besides dragons.

It could also be reference to the Dawn Era.

By the Nine I wish they would just announce the bloody damn thing.

Wait.....I know you......

Good to see out and about outside of the Lore forums. As much as I love the information there.....it can be interesting to sometimes go into the main discussion.

I never stay for long though :P

I'd be disappointed if the DLC is about even more dragons or anything related to them.. seriously, enough. we need something new
