This is a positive thread to help Newbies and longtime Elder Scrolls players alike to share knowledge, tips, and how-to stuff that might seem easy if u are already in the know, but hard if u nobody ever answered you or just assumed u already knew.

I will start with some of the first simple questions..How do you enable screenshots in Skyrim?

#1. Do u have to change a value in the. ini file somewhere to enable screenshots (like u used to have to do in some previous (ES) Elder Scroll games?) or now that Skyrim is a game on Steam is that already taken care of by Steam?

#2. What if your computer or laptop keyboard already has designated a separate key as a screenshot key than F12 and your F12 key is your lit up Internet Key straight from the manufacturer and so your F12 key cannot be remapped for taking screenshots?

#3. If and when u have been able to successfully take screenshots where will they be saved to on your computer and how do you choose if to save them there or on steam or both places?

2) On the very top menu, click 'View'; and then from the drop-down menu, click 'Settings'.
3) Go to the 'IN-GAME' tab on the top.
4) Under "Screenshot shortcut keys", you'll see a box. Just click in that box and then press the keyboard key that you want to use to take a screenshot.

This could be any key you choose, not just limited to the F keys


To find your screenshots folder:
1) You must have at least taken one screenshot in Skyrim/other Steam game already.
2) From the main Steam window, go to 'View' on the top, and then 'Screenshots' from the drop-down menu.

Yes Diab64 !! This is a HUGE help. So many friends have asked me this, and i did not know if we had to enable a value in the .ini like in previous Elder Scroll Games or if it was already ready to use through Steam, so i did not know how to answer them either! I can not thank u enough for taking the time to help other players by explaining the whole process so clearly!

Here is the next basic how-to question. (feel free to submit any of your own that u have not been able to find answers for)

Some are asking how do they make an item in their inventory that they are viewing, rotate side to side, if arrows on their keyboard do not seem able to do this?
Example of Questions on this: Such as when U see a person who made a Skyrim video on pc, able to rotate the Golden Claw key so they can see it better. Does a person who uses a mouse to play, have to have the kind of special mouse that has both horizontal and vertical wheels? Or does the player need to have a gaming pad connected to their pc?

Basically, what ways work for a person on pc to be able to rotate items in their inventory?

Part #2 to questions on this: Are most people able to rotate the characters head to view it from the side during character creation (yanno so they can better see how long they are making the nose etc..), or is it normal to only have a frontal view of the character's head and face during character creation?

O.K. I found out that U just have to play with your mouse poniter as if it was pulling their face from side to side, it works to get a side view (and up and down) view since the beth update, to my own personal results at least.
