Well last night Op had to go to bed and sleep. So my thread exploded to eight pages overnight. I just got finished reading it and since the thread is locked I decided that I create a part 2 to address some of the comments, myself because I was not there for the rest of the thread.
So my whole entire point of view, is that Faction armor and some of the reputuation could have been implemented into Skyrim. What I think some people didn't understand from my point of view is that they could have taken the idea and improved and invented on the idea. People in part 1 were saying, "Well if you wear Faction armor people will suddenly attack you." While some of the arguments against were again following what I said, invent and improve "Suspicion meter"
But first I want to address something. In FNV it makes sense for other people of other factions to attack you on site wearing another faction's armor. You are still in a survivability situation. Everyone is not only concerned about their survivability, they are concerned about the survability of mutliple people. This is a game based on people trying to gain power, trying to rebirth the wasteland that has been created. This is a struggle of power, survival, so it makes sense when a Powder Gang Ranger says, "Oh he's from the NCR" the Powder Gang are escaped convicts, they are trying to gain their own power. They are trying to gain their own direction. So of course they are going to shoot on site.
In Skyrim that wouldn't work, but that's what someone else suggested and I agree with. Though for some reason people don't think I'm about improving features to work in other games. I agreed with their "Suspicion Meter" I will take from my experiences of Skyrim. So my DB questline has me kill someone. All right, I kill them and sneak out during the night. But the NPC should be aware that there is a dead body, should they not? So let's say I go back into the town wearing my DB armor, shouldn't the guards be a little suspicious? Shouldn't a guard question me? Some Faction armor should give "Awareness to Suspicion" it would only make sense someone wearing a red and black robe with a bloody hand on it seems a little suspicious.
When it comes to the Stormcloak and Imperial army, you could wear Imperial Armor in let's say a Stormcloak city or camp. But they would be "Cautious" of you. And maybe one of them would come up to you, "We will tolerate your presence, but if you do something we won't be hesistant" or something along those lines. Remember the Unicorn in Oblivion. The Unicorn allowed you to ride it as long as you didn't take a weapon out or else it would attack you. ahaha. Humorous, but gets to the point.
And reputation. Now the Skyrim is set up, it's already set up to hold a similiar reputation system of New Vegas. Remember that supposedly each hold has different records of your criminal activities. Well it's easy to add in how each hold views you as well. That would be something that would be quite nice.
Which probably brings up something else, a non NV improvement, NPCs need to be more aware. I remember in Oblivion you kill that guy by throwing a statue on him to make it look like an accident. But it ends up the town people are talking about it. They found the body. Yes, sure DB should be cloak and dagger, but for goodness sake someone look into their home. Start talking about it.
But I digress. I feel that Bethseda can see what improvements game developers, such as Obsidian did, and be inspired to invent that into a system for Skyrim. Something new, that fits Skyrim. But I always had the idea that logical game mechanics could be developed into other games of similiar nature.
