New Vegas Deathclaws

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:39 pm

There by far my most favourite enemy of the Fallout Series both Fighting, Hunting and by far the most interesting I find

So I'd like to ask you all, what do you think the New Vegas Deathclaws will be like? Are we going to see some quests that star them (in fallout 3, there never was any quests that focused on these enemies) and how tough do you think they will be?

I hope I get a chance to see these "intelligent Talking Deathclaws", I was never able to play the older fallout games so I sort of missed out on them and just more quests with them in general really

They will look like the FO3 deathclaws. No word on talking deathclaws. Chances are there will be quests that deal with going into Deathclaw areas. The game will not have level scaling so if you go into an area with deathclaws and you are at a low level chances are you will get your butt kicked. So that makes them even more deadly then FO3.

Talking Deathclaws are most likely extinct, still, it's not 100% confirmed.

I doubt there will be talking deathclaws. I'd be surprised if there were even one talking deathclaw.

You should play the originals, you can buy the trilogy pretty cheap.

There's no level scaling in FO3 either.

In the Broken Steel add-on, there's a mission that has you investigate Old Olney and kill many, many Deathclaws along the way while looking for a Tesla Coil for a bichin' electro-cannon.

Really then why is it that when I have a low level I only run into small radscorpoins, few deathclaws and only low level super mutants and when at a high level I run into Super mutant masters and big ass radscorpions and alot of deathclaws?

I'd really like to see some hunting quest for death claws and other wasteland wild life. Even if it is just a collection quest, it gives you another reason to wander.

Since there are going to be Deathclaws, I hope they are rare and extremely deadly. Maybe just a dozen or so in the whole game, but still able to easily kill you. Although this more than likely won't be the case.

There's definitely level scaling in Fallout 3; there are a few places where it's not implemented, such as Old Olney, Deathclaw Sanctuary, Yao Guai Den, Yao Guai Tunnels, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, RobCo.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read "Talking Deathclaws."

I think that it would be really cool to have one intelligent talking Deathclaw that gives you a mission or something.

Except there is level scaling. In fact, that was one of the biggest issues with Fallout 3....

Of course, not all areas are affected by this. But if you notice that when you go to GNR the first time, you mostly only encounter "regular" supermutants.

Oh come on you guys. You all know that level scaling should always be there in some capacity. On the first day you play New Vegas, you're going to get killed after 5 minutes and say "what the $%@". Level scaling works both ways. It makes sure that the game isn't miserable for the first levels, and also ensures that enemies don't get too weak as you get stronger, all while still maintaining a base level of difficulty. As for the Deathclaws, I'm just hoping they can't ignore DT.

Yes, I blame Gremlins 2 for this.

I find it makes the game way to easy once I get to a high level. It also make the devs add canon/game breaking enemies like super strong Ghouls and mutated hillbillies with Overalls stronger then Advanced Mk II PA.

Games are supposed to be hard in the beginning. It make it a challenge and rewarding when you get past the hard things. It also makes you think. So you can't just run and gun. "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away, know when to run."

yes a game should get harder as it goes but this can be done without level scaling and adding enemies with huge abouts of HP. It can be done by good story telling and harder quests. Have areas where you are attacked my more then three people. In the original Fallouts I can run into up to 12 or more radscorpoins while crossing the wasteland at a low level. In my invantory often have little ammo. So I make a run for it.

Even with Broken Steel at level 20-30 I can't be killed. Not with my tens of thosands of ammo for every gun. Dozens of mini nukes and countless stimpaks.

Have areas with really hard enemies and alot of them. Make ammo and health supplies rare and expensive.

If you really want a really hard game like in the original, do this:

put the game difficulty to hard
limit yourself to 3 stimpacks at a time
never have more than 250caps at a time

there it's hard now

Great thing about the Originals I don't have to have it on hard and handicap myself to have a challenge = good game. I don't know why people like games where your hand is held all the way through. With the originals Stimpacks are rare and anti radiation drugs are rare and expensive. Ammo is hard to come by. This his how you make a game without level scaling.

I don't want to have to handicap myself. I should not have to. I want to use my brain like the Original games make me do.

PS I do play FO3 on hard mode. Still can't be killed. If I handicap myself then maybe I will. Still it's stupid. Like I said in another post. We end up with canon breaking Ghouls and stupid Hilbillies with PA overalls.

Also: have gone off topic.
